177w ago - A few weeks back it was first announced and clarified, so beginning today Sony PSN Sr. Director Susan Panico has confirmed that the Hulu Plus preview will officially be streaming on the PS3 entertainment system.
Additionally, Kotaku.com has shared a video preview (below) of the Hulu Plus PlayStation 3 application.
To quote: Continuing our goal to provide the most content-rich entertainment platform in the living room to the PlayStation community, I'm excited to announce that beginning today, the preview of Hulu Plus is available on the PlayStation 3 in the U.S., the first and only console with dedicated gaming functionality that will offer Hulu Plus this year.
If you don't know, Hulu Plus is Hulu's new subscription service offering full current season runs of hit TV programs from ABC, FOX and NBC, adding even more premium video content to the more than 23,000 movies and...
178w ago - With the recent news that the premium Hulu Plus service is coming to Sony's PS3 entertainment system this year, many were left wondering if a PlayStation Plus subscription would be required to use Hulu Plus on the PlayStation 3.
Today Examiner.com (linked above) has received confirmation from Hulu Support Rep Jordan that PlayStation Plus is not required for Hulu Plus on the PS3, however, this is once the preview period ends.
To quote: "Specifically to your question, the Playstation Plus service is only a requirement during the preview period.
Once the preview period ends you should be able to download the Hulu Plus app but that will still require the Hulu Plus subscription.
Right now we are limiting the number of users but Hulu Plus will be launching to the public very soon so stay tuned!"
Until then, those who don't wish to wait it out may opt to give the old Hulu...
179w ago - Today Hulu announced the launch of their Premium Subscription Service dubbed Hulu Plus, which is slated to come to PCs, Apple's iPhone and iPad, some Samsung Blu-ray players and Sony's PS3 entertainment system.
Through an ad-supported premium subscription, Hulu Plus service will cost $9.99 per month and includes HD access to full season runs of shows from Fox, ABC, and NBC.
The service is currently only available to select Hulu members who have been invited – you can request an invite HERE.
To quote: "Even if you don't have an invite, you'll still be able to download a Hulu Plus application on the iPad, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.
The application features a limited number of episodes, but you'll be able to get a feel what the service will be like. Hulu says that the service will launch broadly in the coming months.
Content will be delivered at a resolution of 720p (HD) when available, and can be downgraded in low-bandwidth scenarios."
223w ago - MediaMall is on the verge of announcing their Wii PlayOn beta, which has been in quiet testing for a while now.
What this means to you: For about $40, you'll be able to stream Hulu and Netflix to your Wii!
To quote: PlayOn's been around on the Xbox and PS3 since last year, as well as on all kinds of DLNA-compliant TVs–it's essentially a super-compatible Web interface for video services that don't work on certain platforms–and we knew it was headed Wii-ward from the start.
This is a step, and a sign that the service will actually materialize sometime soon, but it probably won't include a specific, formal release date.
• PlayOn support for Nintendo's Wii in Beta.
• This is the first time PlayOn is able to control the user interface (and we spent significant time designing it)
• It is available for a free 14-day full-featured trial at www.playon.tv; after that it is a one-time $39.99 fee to purchase a license
• It is the same software that supports the PS3 and XBOX360, so if you already have a license or active trial, it will work on your Wii as well
• PlayOn uses the "Internet Channel" on the Wii
• How it works: You can find the PlayOn Media Server(s) by opening the "Internet Channel"...
Today G4TV (linked above) is reporting that the PlayStation 3 problem appears to be linked to a legal issue with a Hulu content provider.
To quote: "Everything we do is with an eye toward achieving our long-term goal of maximizing the content you can access as conveniently as possible in a way that 'works' for the content owner," reads the response I received from customer service.
"In the short-term that may require us to make some tough decisions, but we only do so when we believe it improves our long-term prospects to build a more enduring, legal...
