PS4 Firmware 2.0 Masamune Screens Show Yellow and Pink Dashboard

700°
8w ago - Following up on the recent PS4 Firmware 2.0 Masamune news, today Sony released as few more Masamune screens detailing how the PlayStation 4 dashboard looks in yellow and pink below.

To quote: "The PS4 firmware update 2.0 "Masamune" will allow you to paint your dashboard in seven different colors on top of the classic blue, and Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Asia gave us two examples as part of a press release. Yellow and pink (below).

It's interesting to see that the system tiles will remain blue, even if a slight transparency (which you wouldn't easily notice with the default blue color) will tint them with a slight hue from the background color.

The colors available will be blue, yellow, dark blue, red, teal, lavender, pink and dark grey. It's worth mentioning that those aren't official names, which haven't been disclosed yet.

Update 2.0 will be released on Tuesday, and then we'll probably learn what the blue dot near the online friends count means, as it still hasn't been announced.

Personally, I already know dark grey will be my choice. What about you?"

How to Get a High Score in Don't Die, Mr. Robot on PS Vita

9w ago - Today Mike Daw at Infinite State Games shared details on how to get a high score in Don't Die, Mr. Robot on PS Vita below.

To quote: The game formerly known as "Avoid Droid" has undergone a name change since you last heard about it... We really liked the original name as it perfectly summed up the game in just two words, but a question we had to ask ourselves here at Infinite State Games: did we like the name more than we liked not going to court?

Short answer: no.

You see, the word "droid" is a registered trademark of Lucasfilms Ltd. And we're pretty sure they have more lawyers than our crack team of... zero.

So we say goodbye to Avoid Droid and hello to Don't Die, Mr. Robot!

It's a fruity arcade dodge-em-up with the focus on adrenaline fuelled, skin-of-your-teeth dodging, score chasing, and endless replayability. It's got everything a true fan of arcade games needs: fruit, explosions, multipliers... And we're really excited to bring Don't Die, Mr. Robot! to PS Vita this year.

Mr. Robot loves fruit! But whenever he tries to eat a fruit, it explodes. Poor Mr. Robot! It's not all bad though because exploding fruit destroys the endless hordes of robotic enemies hell bent on crushing, zapping, chomping, or otherwise making Mr. Robot die.

10w ago - Lead Designer John Daud shared details today on how to build a tower defense game spotlighting Defense Grid 2 on PS4 below.

To quote: It's really exciting to finally bring the Defense Grid franchise to the world of PlayStation! With the release of [Register or Login to view links] on PS4, we now get to share the balance, polish, and creativity that has made Defense Grid famous.

It's considered one of the very best Tower Defense games ever built and we now get to share a new experience with a new set of players - and on a great next-generation platform.

To take on this challenge, we looked closely at how Defense Grid 2 could be its very best on PS4. All the key game features are here, of course: the full story campaign with 21 levels, extensive challenge modes with hundreds of towers and aliens all active at once, smooth performance, great control and response, superfast load times, and dynamic music, voice acting and story that gives a Defense Grid campaign its character and ambiance.

When we brought multiplayer to Defense Grid 2, its integration with the PlayStation Network really shined. Not only does Defense Grid 2 make it easy to invite a friend or search for a particular...

Video: How Woah Dave Blends Old with New on PS4 and PS Vita

12w ago - Choice Provisions Designer Jason Cirillo shared a video today detailing how Woah Dave blends old with new on PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Hi! I'm Jason Cirillo from Choice Provisions, the creator of a game called Woah Dave!

This is my first time writing for PlayStation.Blog and I'm super stoked to share our new game with you. Woah Dave! will be coming very soon to PS4 and PS Vita, and will feature all the cross buy support you could ever want.

Woah Dave! is one of the first games released under our new MiniVisions label, and we couldn't be happier. The goal of MiniVisions is to create smaller games with a focus on pure fun, and Dave definitely delivers!

If this is the first time you're hearing about Woah Dave!, then you'll probably notice that it's very heavily inspired by some of the most popular arcade games of the 1980′s.

It's not just another homage to retro games, however, as the chaos and challenge is ramped up to satiate the needs of the modern day gamer. It's a simple little game, but once you've played it, you'll understand why some called it the funnest game in the Indie Megabooth at PAX East!

The basic premise is that poor Dave has taken it upon...
