Sony PlayStation Hints on New Hardware Revealed at E3 2010

500°
220w ago - The Electronic Entertainment Expo is set to begin this week, and according to Sony's [Register or Login to view links] site they are set to reveal new hardware at this year's conference.

Excluding the PlayStation Motion Controller, it is more likely a PSP2 may be revealed this year over the recently rumored PS4.

To quote: "According to the official Sony E3 site, Sony will showcase new hardware on Tuesday: E3 2010 is coming! Meet us here to see what awesome games and hardware is being revealed!

While some speculate a PSP2 announcement from Sony is a possibility, the best bet right now would be another revision of the current PSP hardware with a design more akin to that of the PSPGo or the hardware simply being the Move controller.

Sony is set to take stage at E3 in just over 2-days, so we'll know for certain then."

Braid Creator Drops Hints of a Possible PS3 Linux Port

300°
238w ago - Roughly three months ago Braid was released on PS3 via PSN, however, recently I contacted creator [Register or Login to view links] and asked him about a possible port of the game to PlayStation 3 Linux.

To quote: I've asked Jonathan whether or not a Linux port of the game was in the works, since I've seen him hint at that in old posts on his blog ([Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links]). I'm glad to say that he reported that a Linux port of the game was indeed being developed. To quote:

"[..] one is in progress but hasn't quite been completed, but may eventually be released."

He also said that the porting is about 95% complete, but I don't know how much time it will take for the remaining 5% to be completed, so maybe it will soon be available, maybe not, but this is great hope for the Linux community!

I also spoke with him a little about Open Source, and I was pleasantly surprised to see him not completely reject the idea of open sourcing his game, but he said "it is not likely at this time", so although it is not likely to happen, it is maybe another...

Kojima Productions Hints at MGS: Peace Walker PSP Surprise

400°
238w ago - A recent [Register or Login to view links] on the Kojima Productions blog drops hints the company might be getting ready to reveal a long-awaited Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PSP surprise.

In the post, PR manager Jiro Oishi says the following after talking about touring Japan to show off the co-op play in Peace Walker, to quote:

"However, in truth, there's another ultimate charm outside of co-op play hidden in PW."

The original birth of this news came from an earlier [Register or Login to view links] by Hideo Kojima himself, so it is likely that Oishi and Kojima are both speaking about the same unannounced feature.

To date, there hasn't been any such announcement for the game that would make people rush out to buy a PSP, so only time will tell what surprise Peace Walker may hold for fans.

250°
242w ago - Just before the weekend Infinity Ward's FourZeroTwo aka Robert Bowling hinted that upcoming Modern Warfare 2 DLC may contain new callsign titles in addition to the usual maps.

He also tweeted this weekend of another MW2 playlist update to prevent the spread of the recent "ice skating" / speed hack (video below).

Below are the related Twitter tweets:

"Leads meeting @infinityward this morning; Lots of #MW2 DLC discussion got me wondering, what would YOU suggest as some new callsign titles?"

"Another #MW2 playlist update to prevent the spread of the "ice skating" / speed hack. Will prevent matchmaking into modded games."

"@fourzerotwo so it was a hack?" via @xblfan2001 - Yes. These aren't bugs in game code but game files being changed by users on modded kits."
