Video: Killzone Intercept Q&A: Fighting the Helghast on Film

100°
114w ago - Community Editor Victor Zuylen has posted up a video today which spotlights fighting the Helghast on film alongside a Killzone Intercept Q&A below.

To quote: Killzone Intercept is a fan-made live action short set during the ISA evacuation of Helghan in Killzone 3.

The 14-minute film follows a small ISA squad as they're ordered to prevent a large contingent of Helghast troops from intercepting the retreating ISA convoy. Outnumbered, the squad takes on the task with hopes of getting everyone off the planet alive.

Since its release on the Internet last week, Killzone Intercept has been a small sensation among Killzone fans and novices alike.

At the time of writing, the fan film has amassed nearly 170,000 views - and it's not showing signs of slowing down. We got in touch with director (and longtime Killzone fan) Brian Curtin to find out how Killzone Intercept came together.

PlayStation.Blog: Tell us a little bit about yourself. How did you get started making fan films?

Brian Curtin, Director of Killzone Intercept:
I consider myself an Art Director/Graphic Designer by day and Independent Filmmaker by night. I've always been interested in the arts. Early...

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for PlayStation 3 Cuts to the Chase

100°
124w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has detailed Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for PlayStation 3 today stating that it cuts to the chase!

Below are the details, to quote: Let's not mince words. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is in most ways the polar opposite of the Metal Gear Solid series, abandoning restraint and resourcefulness in favor of unapologetic brutality.

If Metal Gear Solid was an elegant switchblade, Revengeance is a rip-roaring chainsaw.

The opening tutorial mission wastes no time in showing off the game's much-touted Blade Mode, a surprisingly intuitive mechanic that boasts palpable precision. You press and hold L1 to slow time, then hold the right analog stick to wind up your slice.

Hold the stick to the right and Raiden will draw his sword to the right; release the stick and he'll slash from right to left, cleaving obstacles and baddies in two. It's a devastating and deeply satisfying attack, but it's slow and expends fuel cells so it's best reserved for surgical strikes.

Blade Mode has been much discussed, but less has been said regarding Revengeance's impactful combo system. You can tap Square and Triangle (wide attack and strong attack, respectively) to fire off rapid slashes and acrobatic flip kicks ala Dante in Devil May Cry.

To quote: I'm Jake from [Register or Login to view links] and I'm clawing my way to bring you up to speed with our latest game series.

While some of our previous games like Back to the Future: The Game have been pretty light-hearted, we couldn't have gone darker than our next project, a five part episodic series based on Robert Kirkman's Eisner award-winning comic book series, [Register or Login to view links].

First, the good news: The first episode of The Walking Dead, 'A New Day,' will arrive on PSN this Tuesday, April 24th. Not only is The Walking Dead game darker and more violent than anything the studio has done before, but it also provides a very different gameplay experience compared to our previous games.

One major way that the game differs from previous...

Video: Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita - Meet Marisa Chase

50°
180w ago - Bend Studios Creative Director John Garvin has made available a video trailer today spotlighting Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PS Vita which introduces Marisa Chase.

To quote: We've just released a trailer that introduces a new and important character from our story. You met Jason Dante in our [Register or Login to view links] and learned a little bit about him: that he and Drake have known each other a long time, that they each know Sully, that Drake taught Dante a lot about treasure hunting, that Dante can be a little, well, greedy.

This time we're introducing Marisa Chase. But as she tells Drake at one point, call her "Chase," only her grandfather calls her "Marisa."

I don't want to give too much away at this point, but I can say this: once again Nathan Drake finds himself on a quest to solve a historical mystery which he hopes will lead to a fantastic treasure. The trick is staying alive long enough to get there. No easy task. And when Drake gets between Dante and Chase, events quickly spiral out of control.

We were lucky to get some really great talent to play our key characters. [Register or Login to view links], of course, reprises his role of Nathan Drake. Nolan...
