153w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine shared a video trailer today announcing that God of War: Origins Collection Demo is hitting PSN this week.

To quote: We are now just over two weeks away from the September 13th launch of God of War: Origins Collection--an epic compilation of two of the most critically acclaimed PSP titles of all time, God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

Since I know many of you can't wait to get your hands on this package, we're going to sweeten the deal a bit and let you play God of War: Ghost of Sparta early. PlayStation Plus members will have access to the our demo starting tomorrow, August 30th, allowing you to play Ghost of Sparta on PlayStation 3 in HD and stereoscopic 3D for the very first time.

This demo will then be available to the general public next week on September 6th. It's a treat playing both games with the DualShock controller, and they look and feel like they were always intended for the big screen. If you missed our PSP vs PS3 comparison video, watch it now for a deeper look at how we've enhance the visuals.

I'd also like to take a moment to thank all of our friends in the media for their flattering impression thus far. If you pick up the September issue of [Register or Login to view links],...

Video: Remastering God of War: Origins Collection for PS3

155w ago - Ready At Dawn Studios Art Director Nathan Phail-Liff has shared some video footage today on the remastering God of War: Origins Collection for the PS3 entertainment system.

Re-mastering both of the God of War PSP games in full HD for the PS3 God of War: Origins Collection definitely had its share of challenges for us.

The first goal we had was simply the daunting task of up-rezing the engine and content authored on a PSP running at 480 x 272 resolution and 30 frames per second to 1920 x 1080p at a steady 60 fps on the PS3.

This required a custom PS3 version of our engine, coded in-house exclusively for the Origins Collection, as well as a painstaking process by art team. We ended up going through every single character in the game and doubling or tripling polygon count by hand, as well as up-rezing and re-painting every texture across both games at 4x resolution on both characters and environments.

Being gluttons for punishment, we also decided from the beginning of the project that just re-mastering content from PSP resolution to 1080p wasn't necessarily challenging enough (as a quick aside...we were wrong), so we also wanted to take advantage of our custom PS3 engine and try to implement full stereoscopic 3D support.

Video: God of War: Origins Collection PS3 3D Trailer Arrives

164w ago - Today Marc Turndorf of Ready At Dawn Studios has shared a video spotlighting the God of War: Origins Collection PS3 3D Trailer.

To quote: We are extremely pleased to bring our two God of War titles - God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta - to PS3 with the God of War: Origins Collection!

The move to HD has allowed us to show off the visual fidelity that these games offer in a whole new way. Both titles went through an in-depth re-mastering process to make them shine like never before. One of the features we're truly excited about is the addition of stereoscopic 3D.

Both games look truly awesome with this functionality and the amount of depth in the scenes, the layering and parallax of the backdrops, and the dynamic camera motion throughout really pays off when experienced in all of its 3D splendor. To give you a taste of what this compilation is offering, here's a look at our first trailer...

This collection will also support DualShock controllers so every impact and every bone-crushing moment can now be felt in your hands. This is a huge deal to me personally because a [Register or Login to view links] game contains so much over-the-top, heavy hitting action...

Video: God of War Collection: Lost Atlantis Level for PS3 Revealed

50°
195w ago - Today Production Coordinator William Weissbaum has revealed alongside a video the God of War Collection: Lost Atlantis level for PS3, as follows:

With the recent release of God of War: Ghost of Sparta, players now have the opportunity to explore Atlantis on the PSP.

But this isn't the first time Atlantis was going to be featured in a God of War game. Back in 2005, Senior Level Designer [Register or Login to view links] was given his first assignment on God of War II - create an epic experience set in the fabled lost city of Atlantis.

Unfortunately, after months of work, Jonathan's designs had to be cut from the game due to some high-level changes. Afterwards, he went on to create some of the more memorable moments and puzzles in God of War II, such as the heart pounding Grapple Bridge sequence.

In honor of God of War Collection being release in HD on the PSN, we have delved into the Santa Monica Studio archives and found the never-before-seen layouts and sketches of this lost level.

In the video above, Jonathan walks us through his designs and the heartbreak...

God of War: Collection Hits PlayStation Store November 2, 2010

197w ago - SCEA Product Marketing Manager Anthony Caiazzo has announced today that God of War: Collection will be hitting PS3 via PlayStation Store on November 2, 2010.

To quote: In 2009, our Spartan Army asked for the God of War and God of War II experience to be brought forth on a single Blu-ray disc for the PlayStation 3.

Almost two years later, we are bringing the same great Epic Adventures of Conquest, Destiny and Revenge directly to you through the PlayStation Store.

For those that need a refresher, God of War: Collection was the first to introduce the God of War and God of War II experience in true 720p HD form.

Both titles were remastered with anti-aliased graphics, running at 60 frames per second for a smooth gameplay experience, only on the PlayStation 3 system. Additionally, it also introduced PSN Trophy support to the franchise for the very first time.

Be sure to keep your eyes glued to the PlayStation Store update on 11/2 as both the God of War: Collection and God of War: Ghost of Sparta experience will be available through the PlayStation Store for the first very time.

*God of War: Collection, God of War HD and God of War II HD PSN versions will not contain bonus material and extras from the Blu-ray....
