Video: Soul Sacrifice Delta Gets Freedom Wars PS Vita DLC Today

22w ago - Sony Producer Kumi Yuasa announced today that Soul Sacrifice Delta is getting Freedom Wars PS Vita DLC today complete with a video trailer below.

To quote: Hello everyone. Look, I know we've got to stop meeting like this, but it's been a whole fortnight since the last update.

Anyway, it's not my fault if Freedom Wars has decided to invite itself into the world of [Register or Login to view links].

The party crashing Sinners shouldn't be too much of a problem, mind: they're slaves, too, so you should really hit it off.

I guess they've done some kind of deal with Carnatux, as he happens to have the latest Sinner fashion on his shelves now:

OK, they may not look too fancy by Soul Sacrifice standards, but I'm told they're all the rage in the Panopticon, and yours to own if you defeat the Dionaea 3 times. Bargain!

As if this wasn't enough motivation, there's also a couple of really nice offerings for you in (the unlikely) case you do not die a horrible death, destroy the Dionaea's cursed parts, and defeat the beast. Piece of cake!

Just hit the "Download"...

Video: Chariot on PS4: Bringing Gamers Together on PlayStation 4

22w ago - Creative Lead and Programmer Philippe Dion posted up a PS4 video today which brings gamers together in Chariot on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hello everybody! My name is Philippe Dion; I'm the creative lead and also a programmer on [Register or Login to view links].

For those who don't know about the game yet, Chariot is a humorous, cooperative, physics-based platformer where a princess and her fiancÚ need to travel through a network of caves to find a resting place for their dead king, who takes the form of a hypochondriac ghost.

For now, I'm really excited to have this opportunity to share some of Chariot's vision with you.

Where it Came From

When I first presented the concept of Chariot, I envisioned a different kind of cooperative game. I found that the "co-op" concept in video games often boiled down to having a duplicate of the main character on the screen, resulting most of the time in a competition between players to get the highest score or lead the way.

If you've played co-op games before, then I assume you feel the same thing I do when playing with someone who never waits for you and/or who grabs...

Get Alf's Escape Now in Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on PlayStation 4

23w ago - Sony Game Designer Matt Glanville invites PS4 fans to get Alf's Escape which is now available in Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hi, this is Brett Lewis (lead artist) and Matt Glanville (game designer) from UK-based developer Just Add Water.

We recently finished up work on Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty, a full ground-up remake of the 1997 classic Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. We're now here to talk about a brand new bonus chapter for the game, called Alf's Escape!

In Alf's Escape you will once again play as Abe on a daring mission to rescue Alf, the fez-donning, tea-drinking Mudokon we first met in Abe's Exoddus.

It takes place in a completely new, never-before-seen area of RuptureFarms, features all new challenges and puzzles, and sees Abe lead Alf to freedom through a series of grueling death traps.

Whether it's sprinting through a slaughterhouse, being chased by tomorrow's tasty snacks and menacing meat saws, or lobbing well-aimed grenades across vast chasms overlooking the Stockyards, there's a long list of reasons no Mudokons work in these parts of RuptureFarms (Except for Alf, but his line of work is a little different!).

And of course, it wouldn't be Oddworld without a generous helping of humor and charming characters, so we recorded...

Surgeon Simulator is Out Now on PlayStation 4, Gets Co-op Play

50°
24w ago - Sony Community Manager Poppy Byron announced today that Surgeon Simulator is out now on PlayStation 4 and includes co-op play!

To quote: January 28, 2013. That was the day we put the first build of a silly little game jam project onto the Internet for anyone to play.

It was a run of the mill game jam project for me, and my fellow teammates, James Broadley, Jack Good and Luke Williams. But the aftermath saw our little medical-themed toy turn into a real grown-up full game.

The development process of [Register or Login to view links] has been like a constant game jam. We would implement our ideas without a second thought to the game's overall design.

Leaving little details like balancing damage levels and timings until later, just concentrating on what we thought would be cool or fun for the majority of time. For example, once the game was in full production, one of the features I remember implementing first was the notepad in the reception that you can draw on, not exactly essential for the game but fun to make.

This kind of unplanned structureless attitude has continued throughout the entire project. It's an extremely fun way of developing. It has its caveats and wouldn't...
