Download: PS3 HDD Decryption PoC / PS3 HDD Decryption PoC (Mirror)

Below are the details (via ps3devwiki.com/wiki/HDD_Encryption), to quote:

Introduction

  • The following information was reverse engineered from LV1, Storage Manager in LPAR1 and sb_iso_spu_module.self.
  • I'm able to decrypt/encrypt my PS3 HDD and VFLASH on PC now.

HDD Encryption

  • XTS-AES-128 is used to encrypt all data on PS3 HDD.
  • XTS is NOT CBC!!! It's AES-ECB with tweak XORing. AES-CBC is impractical for HDD encryption. Each sector can be encrypted/decrypted independantly from other HDD sectors.
  • Good paper about XTS-AES: ntnu.diva-portal.org/smash/get/diva2:347753/FULLTEXT01
  • VFLASH is encrypted twice. First with ENCDEC keys and then with...

Video: From Board To Screen: Dungeon Twister Lives on PSN

94w ago - Following up on their previous details, today Game Creator Chris Boelinger at Ludically has shared a video dubbed From Board To Screen on Dungeon Twister for PSN.

To quote: Hi - I'm Christophe Boelinger, and I create board games.

My life is dedicated to games. I've made more than 30 games to date, and have always dreamt of seeing one of them turned into a video game. This week, that dream is going to become a reality when that will help you knock me off the top.

When I first designed Dungeon Twister as a board game way back in 2003, I knew it was the perfect candidate for a video game. Its infinite gameplay, the fact that no two games ever the same, the tremendous number of strategies that can be deployed and just how addicted we all got to it suggested that it would be a great videogame.

So I really am delighted that it is coming to PSN tomorrow for £7.99/ €9.99. PlayStation Plus subscribers can also enjoy a 50% reduction on that price for the first two weeks following launch.

As I said, my life is dedicated to games. So please come find me on Playstation Network...

115w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith has shared details today on Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, which is a new platforming title for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: So you are probably thinking "Mutant Blobs Attack? Never heard of it. Why should I care about this game? A

lso, why does Reddit always have so many cat pictures on the front page?" Well, the first thing you need to do is unsubscribe from /r/aww. After that's done, let me tell you a few reasons you should care about Mutant Blobs Attack.

First, you enjoy platformers but are maybe a bit tired of the typical offerings, and are looking for something fresh. You were thinking of buying a Vita, and need something fun to play in between your sessions of Michael Jackson the Experience.

You also have a sense of humor and are tired of games that take themselves too seriously. Maybe you also enjoy monster movies that feature the destruction of all mankind, or perhaps have a slight Blob fetish?

And, if all of the above items apply, then this is REALLY the game for you.

Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a follow up to Tales from Space: About a Blob released early 2011 on the PlayStation 3 (via PSN). Mutant...

Video: Mortal Kombat PS3 Development at NetherRealm Studios

138w ago - Today Director of Art Steve Beran has shared some video footage of Mortal Kombat PS3 Development at NetherRealm Studios.

To quote: I'm really happy to see the upcoming release of the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, which hits PSN next Tuesday, August 30th.

The MKAK is a great way to relive the classic Mortal Kombat arcade games right in your own living room, but I'm also excited that players who enjoyed this year's new Mortal Kombat will soon have the opportunity to play the first three games that set the foundation for the entire fighting-game franchise.

I was introduced to Mortal Kombat on April 20th, 1992. I was fresh out of art school and starting my career at Williams/Bally/Midway.

I remembered being overwhelmed that I was actually walking into the building where some of my favorite games were created: Narc, Robotron, Defender, and Smash TV just to name a few. Mortal Kombat was yet to be released. However there were a few Mortal Kombat prototypes lining the halls of Midway that we could test out.

I remember being just blown away by my first experiences with Mortal Kombat. What first struck me was the size of the digitized characters on the screen. They were huge! I remember selecting Kano as my first character: I was a big Terminator fan at the time,...
