176w ago - Today we received word from mas that he and xorloser have made available a PS3 Cell BE (Broadband Engine) Secure Boot Process PDF document for other PlayStation 3 developers.

Speaking briefly to xorloser, he stated mas recently contacted him with the chart for examination and from there some updates and corrections were made to the diagram until the revised public version was born.

Very cool PS3 developments indeed, and cheers for clarifying the exact PS3 boot process guys!
 

PCE Emu: PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 Emulator for PS3 Arrives

206w ago - Today Rakashazi posted on Fobby.net (linked above) that he has released a PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 Emulator for PS3, Android and iOS called PCE Emu.

To quote: "This is a port of Mednafen's PC Engine emulation to Android, and my first ever emulator port. I've only tested on a Droid/Milestone for now but hopefully it will run on other devices.

I'm planning to have regular updates with more features/optimizations and other emulator ports in the future. Hope you'll enjoy it!"

PCE Emu supports homebrew PS3 JailBroken consoles (runs HuCards only) and the PS3 port supports bin+cue format CDs.

PCE Emu Details: PCE.emu is PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 emulator written in C++ for Android, iOS and PS3.

It uses the emulation backend from Mednafen and is built on top of the Imagine engine. The source is released under the GPLv3 license.

God of War III on PS3 Uses Only Half of the Engine's Capability

241w ago - God of War III game director Sig Asmussen claims the PS3 video game could be twice as good, in a recent interview with [Register or Login to view links].

To quote: "I think our studio will use this engine again, and it'll get better. And I think we're probably about 50- or 60-percent at it right now. I think there's a lot more we can do with it."

He then talks about perfecting the transition from cutscene to gameplay, lighting improvements, and particularly, animations:

"I think individually our animations are incredible, and our animators are incredibly talented. But I think we could make our system technically better, in the way we blend animations.

And I'm pretty sure that we already have the code to do that, and we just didn't implement it in God of War III because it came in real late."

247w ago - Today a new Heavy Rain PS3 gameplay trailer video is available which includes all in-game engine footage.

The video comes courtesy of Vamatt99218 via GameTrailers.com and according to the caption was created using solely real-time in-game engine footage.

Also below is a leaked Heavy Rain gameplay video of Madison from Famitsu, which comes courtesy of SolidSnakeRD via YouTube.

To quote from the video's caption: "A new video of the Japanese version of the highly anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavy Rain has emerged online. It shows a level of the game which involves Madison Paige."

Video: Halo Reach XBox 360 In-Engine Debut at VGA 2009

254w ago - SpikeTV's 2009 Video Game Awards delivered the first in game footage of Bungie's Halo Reach to the masses.

Halo: Reach is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for Microsoft's XBox 360 console.

It is part of the Halo series, and it is scheduled for release during Fall 2010.

The announcement trailer shows the colony Reach, humanity's largest military production and command planet, under attack by an unknown force, referred to in the trailer as "them."
