Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PS3 Demo Out Today on PSN, Details

50°
44w ago - Konami Community Manager T.K. Shrodes shared details today on the new Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 PS3 demo that is out today on PSN below.

To quote: Want a taste of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2? Originally available only to owners of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate HD and the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection, the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 demo will be available for everyone today on PlayStation Store.

Download it today, and draw first blood against Dracula's many enemies in this demo, which highlights Gabriel at the height of his power.

Lash out with the Shadow Whip, a cruel remainder of Gabriel's once holy Combat Cross, or steal your enemies' very souls with the Void Sword. Employ my personal favorite, the Chaos Claws, to break down your foes' defenses and smash them into a very satisfying paste.

Dodge, jump and combo your way from Dracula's own throne room to an enormous assault against Dracula's castle, showing off differences in scale from the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the many additions to the Mercury Engine that make this title bigger, better, and just like Gabriel's turn... Darker.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is available on PS3 in North America starting February 25th. Stay tuned for a special deal for...

Video: PS Vita Dual Firmware Boot Proof-of-Concept Demo Arrives

750°
47w ago - Today Sony PlayStation Vita hacker Katsu released a VPS Vita Dual Firmware Boot Proof-of-Concept demo video with details below.

To quote: It didn’t take long for Yifan Lu’s investigations to become useful for other hardware hackers! Our community member katsu, guided by Yifan’s precise description of the Vita’s NAND pinouts, was able to hack his PS Vita in order to boot from a previous firmware, technically performing something very similar to a downgrade. Check the video below, it’s cool and full of “electronicsporn”, like your favorite cyberpunk movie.

What katsu did was dump his firmware 2.12 (on the NAND), probably using Yifan Lu’s technique. He then copied that Firmware dump to an SD card. In the meantime, he upgraded the PS Vita to firmware 3.01. On the video, you see him inserting his SD card in a reader connected to the Vita. The Vita then reads the content of the SD card (the firmware 2.12 he dumped earlier) instead of its own 3.01 NAND.

What the hell does all of that mean? First of all, that Yifan Lu’s little experiment in the hardware world is proving successful, by providing inspiration and documentation for other talented hardware modders.

Secondly, that downgrading a PS Vita is a possibility under certain...

Video: New Driveclub PS4 Demo Shows Day / Night Transition

100°
66w ago - Evolution Studios Community Manager Jamie Brayshaw is here with a new Driveclub PS4 demo video today which shows day / night transition below.

To quote: Check out the latest in the series of our #DRIVECLUB direct feed videos. This time, we showcase the dynamic shift in the time of day, set against the stunning Salar de Surire in Chile between 18:00 and 21:00.

13 things we'd like you to know about this video:

1. If you'd like to see a version of the video with significantly higher image quality than shown on YouTube (and a closer representation of how the game looks on PS4), you'll be able to download the 1080p video online soon.

2. The time of day is accelerated by x60, which is why the video covers from 6pm - 9pm in Chile in just three laps. Accelerating the speed of time is something you can choose to adjust before you race and it's also why the sunlight disappears so quickly at 1:58.

3. Design Director Paul Rustchynksy is the driver. He's using a Thrustmaster "T80 DRIVECLUB Edition" wheel, which explains why his last lap (in first person racing view) is the fastest.

4. The video was captured in one take from a version of the game still in development. Optimisations to the visual quality of the game are made every...

Metrico on PS Vita: Infographics and Input Morphing Detailed

50°
70w ago - Digital Dreams Level Designer Roy van de Mortel shared some concept art and details today on both infographics and input morphing in Metrico on PS Vita below.

To quote: It has been a while since we announced Metrico, so we are very excited to finally be able to share some more insights into the development and current state of Metrico.

We have been working very hard the last couple of months to make sure we now have a playable version, so people can experience what Metrico is about for the first time.

We announced Metrico at GDC San Francisco back in March with an announcement teaser, which was well received. But we knew that the next time we showed something to the press and you guys, we obviously would have to show more than the abstract video, aimed at introducing the game.

Metrico is a mysterious world, so we decided to keep it a bit vague with the teaser. We have a lot more to show since last March, so we'd like to take a moment and explain what type of a game Metrico is.

In Metrico the player needs to traverse the game world, which is built from all sorts of infographics, like bar diagrams, pie charts, line graphs, etc. These infographics constantly change based on your actions,...

Video: Watch_Dogs E3 2013 Walkthough PlayStation 4 / PS4 Demo

200°
79w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Nik Schmidt posted up a fresh Watch_Dogs PlayStation 4 walkthrough demo video from E3 2013 today for PS4 fans below!

To quote: In this most recent Watch_Dogs gameplay demo, we witnessed the wide variety of tools that Aiden has in his arsenal, all expressed through gameplay.

Whether it be by driving in a stealthily way to try and evade assailants, by assisting a friend in escaping a sticky situation, or by blacking out parts of the city to give him tactical advantage, we were able to see all the agency we'll have while exploring the great city of Chicago.

Now, we've seen how Aiden lends a helping hand to a friend, but who's helping him? Who's helping you, the player, when the odds seemed to have been tipped against you? That's where it becomes interesting.

There's yet another layer of connectivity that will be available to you in Watch_Dogs: Co-op on mobile devices. When you're calling for help, you are sending a request to friends who are connected to the Watch_Dogs universe through their mobile devices.

When that request is accepted, a co-op experience starts and the goal for the two players is to survive from the police by escaping their pursuit. This is just another way Watch_Dogs brings you the full, hyper-connected experience.
