152w ago - Today Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared an interview with Capcom Producer Mike Schmitt on Dead Rising 2 for PS3 from E3 2010.

To quote: While Sid and I conducted a video interview on Marvel vs Capcom 3 (post coming soon!), SCEE's James Gallagher traveled across the cavernous Capcom booth to the Dead Rising 2 area.

The game has progressed significantly on PS3 since we saw it a couple months back, so he held a chat with Producer Mike Schmitt. And because James is English, he didn't even realize that the man hit over 500 home runs! Facepalm!

Fortunately, the fact that he wasn't starstruck allowed him to focus on the game itself. Have at it, James:

Dead Rising 2 is a zombie game with its tongue hanging out of its cheek. You control Chuck Greene, a motorcross champion trapped in a zombie apocalypse in the fictional Fortune City, which is loosely based on Las Vegas.

After tearing through a few hundred zombies with a pair of chainsaws attached to a canoe paddle, I lurched over to Capcom's Mike Schmitt and asked a few questions.

To quote: When zombies first descended on the shoppers of fictional Willamette, Colorado in Dead Rising, the PlayStation 3... didn't exist.

Four years later, the zombies are ready to shamble, moan, and hunger for brains again in Dead Rising 2 - coming to PS3 this August.

Didn't play the first game? We've got you covered. Capcom's Mike Schmitt and Wes Phillips walk us through the sequel's new multiplayer modes, and give newcomers a look at the delicious combination of goofiness and gore that summarize the Dead Rising universe.

The new trailer shows a lot of Zombies and one human (obviously).

It won't be at E3 2009 of course because of Swine Flu, so look for more trailers to surface soon on the Internet.

213w ago - Capcom aired the first gameplay footage of Dead Rising 2 in Tokyo this morning, showing the game's protagonist attacking zombies in casinos with a chainsaw and a broom.

He was also shown wearing an animal skull like a mask. Scary.

A movie for the game was promised for XBLA soon, but no specific details were given.

Dead Rising 2 is currently confirmed as coming to the PS3 as well as the XBox 360 and PC.

216w ago - At a presentation about the visual technology behind the development of "Dead Rising 2," the game's character art lead, Izmeth Siddeek, said that the development team at Blue Castle games is preparing for players to encounter an unprecedented zombie horde.

To quote: "Dead Rising 2 deal[s] with the rendering of the greatest number of characters ever seen in a video game," he said. "Everything else needed to be subordinated to this requirement."

His presentation focused on how software called Mental Mill enabled Blue Castle to efficiently render many characters in visually distinct ways.

The software is helping the makers of this zombies-in-a-casino action game to present a large number of characters without losing graphical quality and without having to take shortcuts that would put the game's zombies in a small number of outfits.

In a postscript to the presentation, Laura Scholl, product manager for Mental Mill, said that Siddeek said that the "Dead Rising 2" development team is preparing to have as many as 6000 characters on the screen. Siddeek did not say whether that figure was accurate.
