Video: Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Opening Cutscene Revealed

43w ago - Square Enix Associate Product Manager Mat Kishimoto has revealed the opening cutscene in a video showcasing Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on PS3 below.

To quote: The story and world of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been shrouded in mystery. You already know you get to play as Lightning in order to save the world in only 13 days.

You already know you get to battle through this world with and against some of your favorite characters from this universe. And until now, we've only teased about Snow's inclusion.

So without further ado, we present to you the opening cinematic to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, completely uncut in its full five minutes of glory.





While we can't divulge every secret to the story of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, we hope you enjoy the opening and witness Lightning and Snow like you've never seen them before. We also hope this cinematic gets you hyped for how truly awesome the end of Lightning's saga will be.

Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut on PS3 and PS Vita is Dated

44w ago - Curve Studios PR and Marketing Manager Rob Clarke has announced release date details for Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut on both PS3 and PS Vita below today.

To quote: Hey everyone, Rob here, representing the fine men and women of Curve studios in London. I'm very happy to announce that Lone Survivor will be out this coming Tuesday, the 24th of September.

Lone Survivor was originally released for the PC last year by indie developer Jasper Byrne. After eight months of work with Jasper on the PS3 and PS Vita versions, we're very happy to say that we've created the definitive version of this game.

Jasper describes the game as a "Psychological Survival Adventure." It has all the hallmarks of classic survival horror games - high on atmosphere and low on available sources of ammunition.

Players can choose to use stealth or firepower to deal with the monsters in Lone Survivor. Depending on player choices, the game can play out very differently, with many optional scenes and different endings.

For the PlayStation version, we started with simple upgrades, like adding touch support on Vita and improving the lighting system... and things spiralled from there!

58w ago - Curve Digital CEO Jason Perkins has announced the Lone Survivor: Director's Cut is coming with six months of extra content!

Below are the details, to quote: Since Lone Survivor game developer Japser Byrne announced the Playstation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game in March, both he and the team here at Curve have been working flat out to deliver one of the most unique horror games you're ever likely to play.

Jasper will be joining Curve developers Sam and Hamish at the Sony area at E3, where he'll be showing off the very latest developments on the PlayStation version of the game, answering questions and revealing more information about the game, which is due to be released this summer. We are very excited to be demonstrating the very first playable build of the game at E3.

The original Lone Survivor was released last year on the PC and was well received by critics, scoring 81% on Metacritic, nominated for a Golden Joystick as well as other awards and official selections, and picked up by many sites as Horror Game of the Year. The soundtrack was also consistently praised.

To quote: Hi there PlayStation Community. This week, we're launching Cardboard Castle on PlayStation Mobile. This is our first game on the platform, and we wanted to give the community something that was fun, entertaining and creative.

The premise of the game is to use real-world items like scissors, water and fire to help the hero of the story on his adventure through a land of cardboard.

As we were designing the game and discussing the idea of having "real" elements in the game, someone on our team suggested cardboard with the idea that it could be cut, get wet or burned. So the idea of a puzzle/adventure fantasy world based on cardboard was born.

We wanted to create a story that was totally based on cardboard and paper only. In the beginning the design of the game was really bland, so we added a cartoony feel to it in order to get that balance of real world and cartoon that we were looking for. We also wanted people to feel like they were progressing in the game by using real world items such as scissors and a glass of water.

Below are the details, to quote: The development of Deadly Premonition is sort of like finishing a full-length marathon...several times over. In other words, Deadly Premonition is my hobby, my business, my study, and my motivation in life - it's an all-encompassing journey and adventure.

Especially to me, it has been a very vital tool to connect with people around the world. It is a feeling that I equate with romance or marriage; like somebody I love dearly, or like a kid who will never listen to his parents.

But I don't have any kids though. Haha! It has been a wonderful journey, and one that I hope will continue to always live on.

I have always been surprised and humbled by the feedback that fans and press have given Deadly Premonition, and by the adornment and cult following that it has garnered. Personally, I would like to think that Deadly Premonition has received the status that it has because there weren't really any games out at the time that were quite like it.

Fans who enjoyed the original will look to seek out another game that will provide them with a similar level of interest and excitement, but perhaps...
