118w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a Crysis 2 PlayStation 3 interview today with Crytek alongside news of a new PS3 multiplayer demo's arrival.

To quote: Console gamers didn't get the chance to experience the first Crysis, a shooter known for making PC gamers feel self-conscious about the power of their graphics cards. PlayStation 3 owners won't be left out of the follow-up, as Crysis 2 arrives on PS3 next week.

Recently I spoke with Executive Producer Nathan Camarillo about those trademark Crytek visuals, and about the new multiplayer demo, which just hit PSN last night.

PlayStation Blog: We know Crytek can produce on the PC. How do you utilize the PS3 to live up to the high PC standard?

Nathan Camarillo: It's the core of CryEngine 3 that's able to scale appropriately and we can adjust per platform exactly what we wanna get out of it. We want the exact same gameplay experience, the same fun, the same intensity, all the same visual information that you need to understand and play the game appropriately. It's just a lot of under the hood magic.

211w ago - The CEO of Crytek Cevat Yerli has indicated that Crysis 2 is pretty much maxing out the PS3 console.

He noted a performance analysis that showed the occupation of all the CPUs, the Cell and GPUs were at the limit... adding that there really isn't much more you can do!

To quote: Talking in the wake of the announcement that EA would be publishing Crysis 2, Yerli said that "The interesting thing is we did run a performance analysis on the PS3 devkit, and you know the funny thing is the occupation on all the CPUs, the Cell and the GPUs, is pretty much - the needle is at the limit."

Here, he was implying that Crysis 2, running on the company's new CryEngine 3 would almost max out the PS3's abilities. "There's not much more you can do," he added, "and frankly the breakthrough was very recent, and otherwise we would've had a compromised strategy on the consoles, which we don't have now.

231w ago - If there ever was a graphical battle to be fought between two titanous games, I don't think it would get any bigger than this.

Now many of you would presume that Crysis is two years old in comparison to KillZone 2, and that perhaps this is an uneven comparison in favor of KillZone 2. In actuality, it's the other way around.

You see, Crysis, at first, almost looks like it could wipe the floor with KZ2. But then in some shots they almost look very much alike. Now you can yell shenanigans from here to Rovigo, but it doesn't change the fact that Crysis is still one kick-butt powerhouse when it comes to graphical presentation. Especially considering that the first KillZone 2 screenshot is a promotional shot from Sony.

In comparison, Crysis maintains a very smooth, airy look to its atmosphere. The clarity presented in both the gameplay and the screenshots are very much consistent. KillZone 2, alternatively, is grimey and dirty. But that's not what makes it look less appealing.

It's the fact that the colors are all variants of a grey-scheme palette. In a way, everything looks like metal; wood looks like metal; dirt looks like metal; blood even looks like dirty metal. That's not to say that it doesn't look good, it's just that everything looks like it was dipped in a coating of dirty,...

237w ago - We've seen Phenom II, Deneb overclocked all the way to 6.2GHz. This was not a screenshot boot, we've seen it with our own eyes as chaps from AMD managed to run the Crysis benchmark several times. The machine was stable on almost every run.

AMD was insisting that this was a stock CPU not a cherry picked one, and that similar scores should be expected from retail products. Intel has never managed to get to over 6GHz and we are sure that Intel is doing some catching up.

You naturally need some LN2 to get to such a high scores and it looks that Phenom II might become an overclocker's favorite toy.

This is quite an achievement and with water you will get to 4GHz+, while with a good air cooler you should reach clocks around 4GHz.
