Cloud PS3 Game Online Saving Coming in Firmware 3.60 Update

750°
168w ago - Today Kotaku (linked above) reports that Sony PlayStation 3 developers have revealed Cloud PS3 Game Online Saving is coming in the Firmware 3.60 update.

To quote: "Cloud storage means that, rather than just keeping your save game data on your PlayStation 3's hard drive, users will be given the option to upload their saves remotely to a server.

The advantage of this is that not only does it save the user space on their hard drive, but since it's tied to a PlayStation Network account, it can be pulled down to different consoles whenever and wherever the user desires.

First rumored all the way back in 2009, there is of course a catch: it'll only be made available to PlayStation Plus subscribers, not the great unwashed. Actually, there are two catches: Sony bundled the announcement with the clause that, because saving games to the cloud "will allow save data with the copy prohibited attribute to be copied into the online storage", developers are able to opt out and bar their games from using it should there be a concern.

Sony will call the process "Online Saving", and it'll be made available as part of the PS3's upcoming 3.60 firmware update."

Final Fantasy VII Cloud Black PS3 is Now Available

250°
261w ago - The limited edition "Cloud Black" Final Fantasy VII PS3 is now available at Play-Asia.com. So for all of you collectors out there, this is a must own.

To quote: Included in this super sexy, ultra rare bundle, is a 160GB PS3, FFVII Advent Children Complete Blu-Ray, and a demo of Final Fantasy XIII.

The one con... It costs $649.00. Just $49 more than a launch 60GB PS3. Not too shabby if you consider the rarity of the item, and the value included.

For anyone who still hasn't got their copy of the FFXIII demo, that comes with FFVII Advent Children Complete Blu-Ray, you should really do so quickly as this is a first print offer only.

With such popularity these items will not be available for long.

Rumor: Dark Cloud 3 being developed for PS3 exclusively

304w ago - According to an Italian PlayStation magazine PSMania, Dark Cloud 3 will be released exclusively on the PS3 in 2009.

Level 5, who are working on White Knight Chronicles due later this year, are also currently working on Dark Cloud 3.

The translated article states:

One of our infiltrates, has revealed that Level 5 is working on a new Dark Cloud exclusively for the PlayStation 3.

This title will come out in March of 2009, and will be developed using a new open-technology, the Japanese style "Kumo Engine".

For now this is being dubbed a rumor, but time will tell for sure.

340w ago - In the latest magazine scan for PSMania, an Italian PlayStation magazine, their rumor mill reveals some interesting things, where you see the Dark Cloud 2 image, it states:

"Uno dei nostri infiltrati, ci ha rivelato che Level 5 sta lavorando a un nuovo Dark Cloud esclusivamente per la PlayStation 3. Questo titolo uscira il Marzo 2009, e sara sviluppato usando una nuova tecnologia stile cel-shading chimata "Kumo Engine"."

Luckily, I was able to get a translation:

"One of our infiltrates, has revealed that Level 5 is working on a new Dark Cloud exclusively for the PlayStation 3. This title will come out in March of 2009, and will be developed using a new open-technology, the Japanese style "Kumo Engine"."

Will Dark Cloud 3 arrive in 2009 for PLAYSTATION 3? If we hear an official announcement, we will let you know.
