73w ago - Ronimo Games Producer Robin Meijer has announced today news of a new Awesomenauts update, with characters deploying soon on PSN!
To quote: It's been about two months since Awesomenauts launched on PlayStation Network, and we're thrilled to see that the community has grown to be so active and vibrant.
Teaming up with Sony to make Awesomenauts part of May's PlayStation Plus offer has really helped to get our multiplayer platforming-shooter off to a running start. And now, we're almost ready to launch the first big update for our game!
In this update, we've addressed two key concerns that we've heard from the community: balance and content. After two months of solid playing, we can confirm that the balance in the original version is pretty good, but not perfect.
With this patch, we're taking a couple of steps to further improve this balance, and bring it closer to where we want it to be. We've buffed some characters, and nerfed those who deserved it.
This patch doesn't just bring boring stat changes, though. We've got some new characters for you, too! Coco Nebulon and Derpl Zork will join the original six Awesomenauts very, very soon. What we haven't told you yet though, is that they're going to be free!
83w ago - Today Product Manager Andrew McKerrow at Kalypso has outlined how charismatic characters in Alien Spidy were designed, along with confirming that the PS3 title will be coming to PSN in June.
To quote: One of the key factors for a game to be successful revolves around the charisma and empathy of the lead character, a task that seems simple, but can be an endeavour of epic proportions.
The first step in the concept process was to try and think of a main character who would be full of charisma and have natural abilities, enabling them to move around the world and adapt to the kind of mechanics we wanted to build into the game.
So, after a lot of brainstorming, coffee, comic reading, watching cartoons and lots of other inspirational tools, we thought that it would be interesting to play around with a small spider with big eyes that would be able to bring some "human" emotional connection to the game.
We also decided to stick six legs on instead of the standard eight legs to make the character a little more friendly looking and little less creepy, as there are a lot of people with arachnophobia! See, we do care!
Once we decided on a spider, all the mechanics would have to be created around web spinning abilities, which in turn adapted very well to the controls...
98w ago - Today Creative Director John Garvin at Bend Studios has shared some video footage unmasking the Uncharted: Golden Abyss characters in the upcoming PS Vita video game.
To quote: Learning how to bring characters to life with all the nuances of personality, habits, quirks and mannerisms was really Sony Bend's first and most important job when we started to work on Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
We have an awesome example in the Uncharted series, and we wanted to give the characters a level of depth that transcends the screen. These videos show just a glimpse of our process and how we worked with our eclectic cast of characters.
I'm no stranger to writing, having written all the Syphon Filter games, but this title taught me some new tricks. By the time we started shooting in February 2011, I had gone through over 40 revisions, changing everything from setting, characters, names, dialogue and action. If we count all the in-game VO dialogue, we ended up with over 400 pages of script for Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Of course, writing and performance capture was just beginning. What followed was an intense year of motion capture clean-up, animation,...
102w ago - Sony Online Entertainment Executive Director of Development Lorin Jameson announced today news of new PS3 characters and holiday items arriving to fans in DC Universe Online.
To quote: Hope you're enjoying the most wonderful time of the year - the holiday gaming season!
One of the chief perks of a massively multiplayer online game is that the developers have a lot of freedom to make changes to the world, including creating special events throughout the year.
In DC Universe Online, we've just begun our new holiday-themed event Season's Greedings, which gives players fun new things to do set in a festive new look. As you make your way around Gotham City and Metropolis, you'll see that both are decked out in celebration of the season. But that's only the beginning!
All players are able to take part in a fun Holiday event starring our newest DCUO character, Larfleeze, the leader of the Orange Lantern Corps. Orange Lanterns? Yes, the Orange Lanterns, much like the Sinestro Corps or the Red Lanterns, are rivals of the Green Lanterns and are powered by the orange light of avarice, aka "greed."
Being a greedy little guy, it makes sense that Larfleeze wants all of the holiday presents for himself. As the player, it's up to you to track down the stolen presents, battle...
