57w ago - Sony International Software Development Senior Producer Tsubasa Inaba has announced today that Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational goes asynchronous today complete with new courses and characters!

Below are the details, to quote: If you haven't played Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational in a while, now is the time! As some of you may already know, we recently released a feature update (patch 1.05). This long awaited update adds the following features:

Turn Based Challenge

Too busy to join a tournament online at a given time/date? Not to worry! By introducing this "Turn Based Challenge" mode, you can now challenge your friends in an asynchronous competition and play head to head, hole by hole.

Players can now also set up 20 different parallel games at any given time. To avoid cheating, there are no re-dos, similar to Daily Tourneys. Short messages (like SMS) are also now enabled, as well as competitive score history between friends.

Additional gameplay updates include:

• Four-player stroke mode enabled in the multiplayer rooms.
• A slot mode added to the online/adhoc, enabling a slot machine style handicap system applied per hole to keep the game interesting in case there is an imbalance between player skills.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: PSN Release, New Characters Tomorrow

74w ago - Namco Bandai Games Community Manager Rich Bantegui announced today that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be getting an official PSN release with some free new characters tomorrow!

Below are the details, to quote: I wanted to give the PlayStation Nation the inside scoop on some cool things we have coming up for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 this week. Starting on Tuesday, November 13th, we will be offering Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as a download on PlayStation Store for $49.99.

For those of you doing the math right now, that's $10 cheaper than a Blu-ray copy of the game. And for those of you who have not purchased the game yet and are looking for another excuse to download or grab a copy, we will be releasing the final timed character roster update this week as well! BOOM! HYPE! WISDOM!

Monday night we'll unleash the final Tekken fighters from their cages and let them loose on the internet for our dedicated fans. The new unlocked characters for feature three returning favorites: Dr. Boskonovitch, Unknown and Violet.

It's been a while since players have been able to get their hands on these characters and play as them themselves, with Dr. B last playable in Tekken 3, Unknown last playable in the original Tekken Tag Tournament and Violet in Tekken 4.

Video: 007 Legends Celebrates, PS3-Exclusive Multiplayer Characters

78w ago - Eurocom Product Manager Rob Matthews has posted up a 007 Legends video today celebrating Bond history with PS3-exclusive multiplayer characters!

To quote: 007 Legends is a videogame celebration of the James Bond film franchise's 50th anniversary, featuring five classic Bond movie-inspired missions along with a downloadable mission based on the next Bond film, Skyfall.

Skyfall is an integral part of 007 Legends story, the action from the film bookends the other missions and we've built the overarching narrative of the game around a pivotal event that occurs early on in the film.

EON Productions, the production company who produce the James Bond films, have been fantastic partners to work with, granting us exclusive behind-the-scenes access to many of the film's stunts and action sequences, allowing us to recreate those breathtaking moments you'll see on the big screen within the game as fully interactive segments within the game.

During the Skyfall mission, we visit two striking locations that have been faithfully recreated from the film, as well as some fantastic acting talent including Daniel Craig as Bond that will appear on the big screen when the film is released on November 9th, 2012.
 

New Awesomenauts Update, Characters Deploying Soon on PSN

92w ago - Ronimo Games Producer Robin Meijer has announced today news of a new Awesomenauts update, with characters deploying soon on PSN!

To quote: It's been about two months since Awesomenauts launched on PlayStation Network, and we're thrilled to see that the community has grown to be so active and vibrant.

Teaming up with Sony to make Awesomenauts part of May's PlayStation Plus offer has really helped to get our multiplayer platforming-shooter off to a running start. And now, we're almost ready to launch the first big update for our game!

In this update, we've addressed two key concerns that we've heard from the community: balance and content. After two months of solid playing, we can confirm that the balance in the original version is pretty good, but not perfect.

With this patch, we're taking a couple of steps to further improve this balance, and bring it closer to where we want it to be. We've buffed some characters, and nerfed those who deserved it.

This patch doesn't just bring boring stat changes, though. We've got some new characters for you, too! Coco Nebulon and Derpl Zork will join the original six Awesomenauts very, very soon. What we haven't told you yet though, is that they're going to be free!

Designing Charismatic Characters for Alien Spidy, Hits PSN In June

102w ago - Today Product Manager Andrew McKerrow at Kalypso has outlined how charismatic characters in Alien Spidy were designed, along with confirming that the PS3 title will be coming to PSN in June.

To quote: One of the key factors for a game to be successful revolves around the charisma and empathy of the lead character, a task that seems simple, but can be an endeavour of epic proportions.

The first step in the concept process was to try and think of a main character who would be full of charisma and have natural abilities, enabling them to move around the world and adapt to the kind of mechanics we wanted to build into the game.

So, after a lot of brainstorming, coffee, comic reading, watching cartoons and lots of other inspirational tools, we thought that it would be interesting to play around with a small spider with big eyes that would be able to bring some "human" emotional connection to the game.

We also decided to stick six legs on instead of the standard eight legs to make the character a little more friendly looking and little less creepy, as there are a lot of people with arachnophobia! See, we do care!

Once we decided on a spider, all the mechanics would have to be created around web spinning abilities, which in turn adapted very well to the controls...
