109w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has scouted locations today including Boston, New York, and the Frontier in Assassin's Creed III for PS3.

To quote: Part of Assassin's Creed III's ample appeal lies in its fastidious recreation of Revolutionary War-era America, a time of great uncertainty and even greater promise.

Developer [Register or Login to view links] has gone to considerable lengths to accurately recreate historic locations across the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, referring to era maps and historians in order to bolster the game's authenticity.

We recently spoke with lead designer Steve Masters and creative director Alex Hutchinson to learn more about the game's slavish attention to detail in recreating late 18th century colonial America. Enjoy!

"In Boston, you'll see a lot of places you could see today, from the old statehouse to Fenway Market to a pub called the [Register or Login to view links]. Using maps from the era, we recreated Boston at a 1:3 scale, including a lot of the surrounding countryside with towns like Lexington and Concord."

109w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has posted up a new video trailer today announcing that fans will be able to expose Benedict Arnold exclusively on PS3 in Assassin's Creed III.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links]'s secret plot to betray West Point and sabotage the American Revolution earned him the ultimate mark of infamy: a name that will forevermore be synonymous with deceit and treachery.

And on October 30th, the most reviled turncoat in American history will be virtually resurrected in Assassin's Creed III to pay his dues once more - but only on PlayStation 3.

The PS3-exclusive four-mission arc begins with a special request from [Register or Login to view links] in exposing a rumored plot to overthrow West Point, a critical link in the defense of the Colonies against Great Britain.

Across four missions, Connor will flush out Loyalist spies and work undercover for Benedict Arnold, culminating in a full-blown assault on West Point that Connor must halt at all costs.

We reached out to Assassin Creed III scriptwriter Matt Turner to learn more about what's in store for PS3 players on October 30th.

Assassin's Creed III PS3: On The Hunt In The American Frontier

115w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Gabriel Graziani has explored Assassin's Creed III for PS3 today going on the hunt in the American Frontier.

To quote: The frontier of Assassin's Creed III offers an incredible bounty of wildlife for a skilled and dedicated hunter. The wilderness positively sprawls before Connor, ensuring that its boundless resources are always available.

Adventure awaits beyond the protective city walls of Boston, and I'd like to give you a glimpse of a tiny fraction of what you can expect to find within the forests and glades of the frontier.

Let's begin with the simpler game Connor can capture, and a few examples of how he can put them to use.

The animals pictured in the image above can be found roaming the countryside in AC3, and you'll find them the easiest to catch. Hares, foxes, deer, raccoons and beavers shouldn't present much danger to a canny trapper like Connor, but these animals (so frequently preyed upon by the larger predators) can be incredibly skittish and will bolt if they detect a human presence.

Maintaining such a close relationship with nature has afforded Connor some unique abilities that you can exploit to make hunting easier. Activating Eagle Sense will enable Connor to detect nearby clues which, when investigated, will identify...

Videos: Assassin's Creed III: Naval Battles, AC3 Liberation Trailer

119w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Gabriel Graziani has posted up some fresh Gamescom 2012 video trailers today showcasing Naval Battles and AC3 Liberation in Assassin's Creed III for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: To celebrate Gamescom in Cologne, Germany this week, we're giving fans an in-depth look at the breathtaking naval combat in Assassin's Creed III! Submerge yourself in our latest trailer below.

Let's get in to what you just saw in that trailer, because there are a ton of little gameplay nuggets hidden inside it.

First off, check out the attention to detail on the crew and their activities on the deck of Connor's ship, the Aquila... we really wanted to convey the buzzing hive of energy that a ship this size requires just to keep it moving, let alone enter combat.

And when the weather gets rough, Connor may need to put his deft Assassin acrobatics to use, climbing around the rigging and ensuring the sails are properly maintained and operational.

Enemy ships aren't the only threat you'll face along the Eastern shores of North America. Fortunately, you'll have deck guns capable of rotating to remove stationary threats like mines, or even some of the smaller ships that threaten the Aquila.

Video: Assassin's Creed III for PlayStation 3: It's Time To Rise

125w ago - Ubisoft EMEA Senior Brand Manager Camille Aneas has posted up a new video trailer today for Assassin's Creed III on PlayStation 3 dubbed It's Time To Rise below!

To quote: For freedom to rise, the oppressor must fall.

Blood will be shed, sacrifices will be made, but the idea we all fight for will live on forever.

Assassin's Creed 3 shows us that the smallest action can spark the flame that ignites the revolution: a soldier fighting for his country; a priest struggling with his faith to follow his beliefs; a mother willing to kill to protect her children; a lone assassin, fighting for freedom and justice.

The strongest weapon against tyranny is the will of the individual... it's time to RISE.
