211w ago - Today Associate Producer William Weissbaum has announced news of a God of War Collection 'Spartan Army' Sweepstakes on the PlaySTation Blog, as follows:
In celebration of the recently released God of War Collection, and to show our continued support of true God of War fans, we've put together an incredible sweepstakes exclusively for the God of War Spartan Army.
After all, it was the fans that convinced us to offer the God of War and God of War II experience in stunning HD on the PS3.
Now onto the prizes!
One Grand Prize: The Grand Prize winner will receive an autographed "Gold" disc (a first pressing of the game created when the assets were finalized and reached "Gold" status. These copies rarely reach the public.), exclusive artwork created and signed by a God of War team member, a Limited Edition Kratos T-shirt, and a never before released Limited Edition 10" Figurine!
Five First Place Prizes: A copy of God of War Collection signed by the Development Team
To enter the sweepstakes simply go to the 'Sign Up' page within www.godofwar.com and enter your email address and date of birth – that's it!
If you're already a Spartan Army member, don't worry, you're...
To quote: The controller, reports Sony, is incredibly accurate.
"What most people are really surprised about is the precision," Sony's Kish Hirani, head of developer services, tells game site Eurogamer.
"It's scarily good. The army has had this sort of technology for a long time, so a lot of academians have seen these things, but when you see a consumer space device with this level of accuracy – that's when developers say, 'Wow.'"
Something else that might make developers say "wow"? It's possible to set the color of the controller's light up ball.
"I'm not a games designer, but if I was I might use it as a muzzle flash if you're using a gun, or use it as a paintbrush you can use to dip in and pick up different colors," Hirani adds.
230w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared a video via PlayStation Blog covering some of the recent activities going on this week in St. Louis revolving around tonight's 2009 MLB All-Star Game.
To quote: As part of the Pros vs GI Joes program, PlayStation welcomed a St. Louis-based Army group in to compete in a little MLB 09 tournament against FanFest attendees. The winning soldier, Richy Kohler, took home a PS3, a copy of the game, and scored tickets to tonight's MLB All-Star game.
But the best part was when Detroit Tigers All-Star pitcher Edwin Jackson showed up at the PlayStation Truck. He took on soldiers based in Kuwait in a 3-inning game via the PlayStation Network, which was definitely a memorable experience for all involved.
Do me a favor and take a look at what he (and some of the soldiers) had to say:
Jackson then stuck around to take on Kohler in a friendly game (and won). I caught up with Jackson before he had to head off to practice, and he proved to be a real class act.
I think we've all gotten accustomed to playing against our friends (and total strangers) online over the past few years, but it was really cool to see how meaningful...
234w ago - America's Army 3 is supposed to be the best realistic Army simulation for gamers... and potentially a recruitment tool. Just a few days after it's launch the game was bombarded by fans.
Just when you thought there could not be any more bad news than the developers getting fired on the release date, server problems and fan complaints are flooding through America's Army forums.
To quote: A lot of fans cannot link their America's Army 2 account with the new one, so they are forced to create a brand new account and go through all the training again.
However the problem did not stop there. When players finish their training, there is no way to save their progress on the server. Players just have to keep doing the same boring training again and again, hoping the server will register their progress.
Server problems aside, there are more problems with the fans. The fans were promised amazing graphics built on the Unreal 3 engine but were disappointed when getting what is shown in the picture below.
There is already a online petition to change the texture, but we all know that online petitions means nothing to the developers... especially when the developers got fired already.
