211w ago - Now with the PS3 Firmware 3.10 update you can send an error report to Sony.
I encountered this personally just yesterday when I was playing Modern Warfare 2 and think its a good feature for future PS3 Firmware updates to reduce issues.
To quote: "Thanks to firmware 3.10, Sony now allows users to send an error report after an improper shutdown.
Freezing is an annoying issue and there is no way for everyone to be able to report such errors in an easy way. While it's unknown what exactly is being sent to Sony, expect information about your software and hardware to be sent.
According to a disclaimer before sending in the report, this includes PSN account information, the content saved on your PS3, and your email address. This information will be sent if it was being used during the time of the problem."
212w ago - As promised, Sony's PS3 Firmware 3.10 (mandatory) update is now available and can be downloaded linked below for both North America and Europe.
For those who missed it earlier today, the offical press release details all of the changes including Facebook integration, a Photo browser update and an enhanced Friends List that includes the ability to change the font color of your PSN ID.
Enjoy all, and as usual feel free to report any issues encountered after updating in the comments below.
212w ago - Shortly following the video preview of the upcoming PS3 Firmware Update 3.10 comes the official Press Release (below) and confirmation that it will indeed arrive today.
According to 1Up.com, Sony will be releasing the 3.10 update today.
To quote: They've apparently been planning this for some time now, but network operation director Eric Lempel wouldn't say how long.
"I'll just say that it's been in the works for quite some time," he said in an interview with 1UP.
"It's never been easy to just integrate new content into the PlayStation Network. We've had this planned for a while now."

212w ago - Today PlayStation Network Operations Director Eric Lempel shared a video preview of the upcoming PS3 Firmware v3.10 update.
To quote: Hi everyone, here's an early peek at PlayStation 3 (PS3) firmware update (v3.10). The latest update incorporates Facebook into the PS3 experience.
By linking your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, you will have the option for the PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity.
This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favorites through the PS3's built-in web browser.
This is just the beginning of our integration with Facebook and we are looking forward to adding new features enhancing the experience in future updates.
Additional highlights from update 3.10 include:
• The Photo category on the XMB has been revamped to make it easier to see more of your photos stored on the PS3.
• The PSN Friends List has been modified based on feedback...
According to Polish site Polygamia.pl (linked above), PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.10 will arrive on November 19, 2009 and include an XMB option to choose the Polish language interface for your PS3.
To quote, roughly translated: "Polish subsidiary of Sony has confirmed to us that soon you will be able to choose Polish language interface for your PS3.
Usually the term 'soon' means something like wait a month for the official announcement, but this time it's different. Indeed in next Thursday will be able to download the software update passes marked the console 3.10, which would make the Polish language to the XMB.
Rumors about the new functionality was already a few, but currently we do not know yet whether with native speech will also be fired independently of chat games."
