PSP Phone Specifications Unveiled

200°
323w ago - The PSP phone idea has been thrown around for quite a while now, but according to this piece of scanned white paper you see below, it shows just what a device would carry. Click on it for the larger image, unless you've got vision as good as Superman to read everything in fine print.

Among the specifications listed include:

- 4.3" 16:9 widescreen TFT LCD display at 480 x 272 pixels and 16.77 million colors
- 2 megapixel camera
- Built-in web browser
- Built-in podcasting
- Flight mode
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Memory Stick Micro/microSD memory card slot
- Streaming audio/video
- Video calling
- Speakerphone
- Alarm clock, calculator, calendar, other PIM functions

It would be interesting to see whether such a device will be able to live up to the 5 hour game time claim. This could be possible if it doesn't use UMDs, but should Sony decide to make it backwards compatible with the media, game time will be severely shortened if you happen to turn on the cell phone functionality simultaneously.

How much are you willing to fork out for such a dream device?

324w ago - As a follow-up to last week's post, this week we deliver more information on the SN Systems suite of products, specifically the Target Manager and ProDG Debugger for PS3.

As most recall, for ages SN Systems tools have required license files, usually based off a PC's MAC address and only available to licensed developers. In the video below (clear version HERE), it demonstrates adding the SN license file, and showing that it is valid.

After that the Target Manager (which facilitates PC/PS3 communications) is started up, the old TEST removed, and then readded. Upon readding we take a quick browse around the program, while connecting to the PS3. It shows the PS3's IP address, SDK version (at 2.40) among other information.

Next the PS3 Debugger is started up, and we show its base operations. From in here one can load in a SELF, along with the ELF, and debug the code that one...

200°
324w ago - Peripheral manufacturer In2Games has announced it is developing a Wii-like motion-sensing controller for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Gametrak Freedom will, according to its manufacturer, be "the most advanced motion-sensing controller yet".

Describing the technology, the company's website states that the "system does not rely upon the gamer pointing a controller at the screen or restrict the gamer to limited movements".

"Instead, it combines patent-pending ultrasonic and RF technologies with three-axis accelerometers to track the precise absolute position and orientation in 3D space of almost any wireless accessory such as golf clubs, baseball bats, tennis racquets, and bowling balls".

The first title in development for the new system is entitled Squeeballs, but no further details of the game are available as yet. A release date for both Gametrak Freedom and Squeeballs is yet to be announced, but In2Games confirmed it will be 'soon'.
