285w ago - Peripheral manufacturer In2Games has announced it is developing a Wii-like motion-sensing controller for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The Gametrak Freedom will, according to its manufacturer, be "the most advanced motion-sensing controller yet".
Describing the technology, the company's website states that the "system does not rely upon the gamer pointing a controller at the screen or restrict the gamer to limited movements".
"Instead, it combines patent-pending ultrasonic and RF technologies with three-axis accelerometers to track the precise absolute position and orientation in 3D space of almost any wireless accessory such as golf clubs, baseball bats, tennis racquets, and bowling balls".
The first title in development for the new system is entitled Squeeballs, but no further details of the game are available as yet. A release date for both Gametrak Freedom and Squeeballs is yet to be announced, but In2Games confirmed it will be 'soon'.

In related news, ThreeSpeech have also shared a Dead Space "Strategic Dismemberment Featurette" video today. To quote: Unlike other shooters, headshots won't kill these beasts.

287w ago - NeoCrisis Staff Member Ryan was able to get a few details about God of War 3 as follows:
The graphics will be insane! It will feel like the game is real, or well really happening. The graphics will go well with the gameplay, the grapics wont take the attention away from the action. One word... amazing.
The gameplay will be like no other God of War game. I heard that it will have a new fighting system. I've also heard of a free roam option in a few places but it's not confirmed, in other words if they run out of money, no free roam.
It will have a new storyline, whole new missions. Might have about 5 or 6 parts (depends on the storyline) and each part will have 5 acts (like Gears of War 2). They might allow you to play as multiple main characters. Unlike the other God of War games the final boss/bosses will be way harder if the storyline is easy.
They might allow you to cuztomize your chracter and create custom weapons. They might have the basic team deathmatch and other game modes. Really fun!
Great online help (Staff, administration etc.)
289w ago - Sev1512 of PlayStationLifeStyle writes: It has been brought to my attention that PlayStation Underground held a secret focus group earlier this year.
A small group of PS3 owners were sent to a facility in [undisclosed location], California to test a new PlayStation product in development.
Once inside the testing facility, these PS3 owners were shown a mini-tripod that stood about 12 inches high. and what looked like 4 black PS3 "wiimotes". Well they were essentially "wiimotes" for the PS3, but didn't need a "nunchuck" attachment. I will refer to them as "PS3motes" for now on.
You can have up to 4 of these "PS3motes" connected at one time. A demonstrator at this focus group was there showing off the "PS3motes" capabilities, along with some mini-games to play. The mini games ranged from tennis, to fencing, to a "really really cool" paintball game. The demonstrator even used the "PS3mote" to play "Quake" on his laptop.
The "PS3mote" is said to be incredibly responsive and accurate. When the demonstrator crouched while playing the paintball game, the character on screen did as well.
The biggest concern of the demonstrator was that for these "PS3motes" to work they needed the tripod, which connected to the PS3's USB...
