223w ago - Just a few things that we normally don't have time to mention during the week... we have recently reopened a public PS3 News IRC Channel for those who wish to idle there and occasionally mingle or swap files with others.
Just click on the IRC icon above each page to join.

225w ago - Today's PS3 Slim update is another unofficial 'confirmation', this time stating the PlayStation 3 Slim will open GamesCom next week.
VG247.com has also confirmed that Sony's press conference is set to last "just over an hour" and the extra time around it is "for people to sit down", not the three hours as previously reported, and will begin around 7:00pm CET.
To quote from Pocket-Lint.com (linked above): "Sources close to the product have told us that Kazuo "Kaz" Hirai, head of Sony's console division, will announce the new hardware version of the PS3 at it's Tuesday evening press conference at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany next week.
The console, which has been rumored to be coming for some time, will land in shops in time for Christmas in both the UK and the US, and follow the company's history for creating slimmer versions of the console."
226w ago - As an alternative to FreeKey, Seacrest has released his OpenKey LiteOn 83850c drive key decrypter for XBox 360.
To quote: I just wanted to get a look at the super advanced crypto that goes into 83850c but apparently Geremia is not sharing source code for FreeKey... so one thing led to another and I ended up writing this little app while deciphering the (actually quite disappointing) algorithm. Enjoy!
This is mainly provided for curious people and I can NOT guarantee that the keys it gives you are correct (but it seems to work properly). Please don't ask me for help with this application unless you are working on integrating this functionality into JungleFlasher
OpenKey v0.2 Changelog:
• Added an additional file validity check for matching barcode data in both inquiry and serial areas
• Added automatic .bin.key creation (prompts for overwrite confirmation if the file already exists)
• Added pretty hex display
