Video: Army Corps of Hell for PS Vita: A Taste of Multiplayer

250°
134w ago - Square Enix Community Manager Robert Peeler has posted up a video today spotlighting the multiplayer aspects of Army Corps of Hell for PlayStation Vita below.

To quote: It's not too often you see a game from Square Enix employ the use of death metal guitar, screamo vocals, and copious amounts of blood.

Army Corps of Hell brings a new level of action to PS Vita. After being defeated in battle, the King of Hell is burned down to a meager corpse, stripped of his powers, and banished from his throne.

He uses the last of his strength to take command of a legion of weak-minded yet bloodthirsty goblins to reclaim his throne.

To annihilate the demons of Hell, you'll control an army of up to 100 goblin soldiers with unique classes and abilities. In true [Register or Login to view links] fashion, a new synthesis system lets you combine materials dropped by fallen foes to create new equipment for your troops.

Customized equipment can change your goblin soldiers' looks and upgrade the abilities. We're making use of the various features of the PlayStation Vita and we've implemented ad-hoc multiplayer.

Check out the latest trailer above, which shows brutal ad-hoc (local...

The Drop this week is nearly as big as Super Bowl XLVI, with a massive blow-out of PS3 Blu-rays, PSN digital releases and a PS2 classic.

Speaking of classics, the Jak and Daxter Collection arrives this week on Blu-ray as a full packaged HD triple-combo, or single jabs as individual purchases on PSN.

Also, it was a pleasure joining the stage with David Jaffe and members of Eat Sleep Play last Thursday at the Twisted Metal community event, where we raffled tons of prizes and booed each winner onto the stage. A big thank you to PlayStation fans that made it out and turned it into an amazing experience!

Hit the jump and bask in the glory of over ten PlayStation games on this week's The Drop.

Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack - Platform Fun for PS Vita

50°
134w ago - DrinkBox Studios COO Graham Smith has shared details today on Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack, which is a new platforming title for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: So you are probably thinking "Mutant Blobs Attack? Never heard of it. Why should I care about this game? A

lso, why does [Register or Login to view links] always have so many cat pictures on the front page?" Well, the first thing you need to do is unsubscribe from [Register or Login to view links]. After that's done, let me tell you a few reasons you should care about Mutant Blobs Attack.

First, you enjoy platformers but are maybe a bit tired of the typical offerings, and are looking for something fresh. You were thinking of buying a Vita, and need something fun to play in between your sessions of Michael Jackson the Experience.

You also have a sense of humor and are tired of games that take themselves too seriously. Maybe you also enjoy monster movies that feature the destruction of all mankind, or perhaps have a slight Blob fetish?

And, if all of the above items apply, then this is REALLY the game for you.

Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack is a follow up to Tales from Space: About a Blob released early 2011 on the PlayStation 3 (via PSN). Mutant...

Touch Controls in Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition on PS Vita

200°
134w ago - SEGA Executive Producer Mie Kumagai has detailed the touch controls in Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition on the PS Vita today.

To quote: When we were developing the game we wanted to incorporate the new features of the Vita into Virtua Tennis as much as we possibly could, whilst obviously making the best game possible.

One of the key features for the PlayStation Vita is front and rear touch. Virtua Tennis takes full advantage of this technology and allows players to play the most precise and responsive shots with a touch of their fingertips.

With a single touch of the screen you can tell the player where exactly to move to on the court, before taking one of a variety of shots by swiping your finger across the screen towards the area of the court you wish to hit the ball to.

A simple forward slide with your finger will play a top spin shot, a backward slide will play a backspin shot and a sharp backwards movement followed by a forward slide will play a lob shot.

Virtua Tennis also includes a match momentum system which rewards players for good shots by slowly filling the match momentum bar.  Once your match momentum bar has completely filled up you can also play a 'special' shot by hitting the shot with two fingers.

There is also the option...
