157w ago - Earlier today some treats were revealed for PlayStation Plus subscribers, and now PlayStation Store Senior Manager Grace Chen has shared details on a few more early holiday presents on the way!
To quote: 'Tis the season to give... so our team is prepping a special gift for all PlayStation Plus subscribers. We already revealed our biggest PlayStation Plus publishes yet, including free downloads of games like Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse and Crash Team Racing.
Along with those featured games, we also have some other surprises that will keep PlayStation Plus subscribers busy over the holiday break.
Coming soon to all PlayStation Plus subscribers is a free download of the beta for Sony Online Entertainment's newest MMORPG, DC Universe Online, from the PlayStation Plus section in the PlayStation Store.
From there, they can create their own super hero (or super villain) and take an adventure through Jim Lee's vision of the DC universe. We will have more information on the exact timing of the beta in the near future, so be sure to keep your eyes on the blog.
Our holiday cheer isn't stopping there! On December 21,...
157w ago - Sony PlayStation Network Product Manager James Thorpe has unveiled the treats for PlayStation Plus subscribers this week, which include Dead Nation and Hustle Kings avatars and access to the LBP2 PS3 Open Beta.
To quote: Hi Guys, it's already time to give you the first installment of your festive December treats. So here goes...
You may have seen Alex's post last month about LittleBigPlanet 2 and the amazing new game coming to PSN on 15 December: Sack Boy's Prehistoric Moves.
We thought you guys might like this so we are giving it to you completely free and one week before everyone else on PSN. New, free and early!
The second treat today is also LBP2 related. We were gutted we couldn't give you the first LBP2 beta exclusively but to hopefully make up for it a little, we have managed to persuade the guys to extend the LBP2 beta for you Plus members.
The numbers are unfortunately limited but if you have been chosen then you should have already received an email and are hopefully playing, creating and sharing as we speak.
Another treat for this month is something you have been asking for: There are two Dead Nation Avatars now available for download. Check out your exclusive 'Hero' and 'Heroine' avatars today.
157w ago - Senior Product Marketing Manager Stephanie Yoshimoto has announced today news of new GT5 PS3 goodies and confirmed that GT Academy registration starts today for fans!
To quote: Lots of exciting news in the Gran Turismo world today. First, starting today, you can now register for GT Academy, the ultimate chance to become a real professional race car driver using Gran Turismo 5, now available exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
In case you hadn't heard about this exciting competition, we're not talking about a weekend racing school here. The GT Academy winner will ultimately go on to train with elite race car drivers in actual Nissan vehicles and race as part of a professional team...the ultimate dream.
The actual GT Academy competition, in collaboration with Nissan North America, will start in the US on December 20 and will continue through January 23.
In the case that you just want to have some fun playing Gran Turismo 5 online and don't think you'll win GT Academy, all participants will earn free GT digital content just for playing. But if you do have some serious GT skills, you have a chance to win some cool GT prizing, including Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheels, Playseat racing rigs,...
To quote, roughly translated: Waninkoko has been working on developing PS3mlib, a high level library that provides application programming for PS3, including all types of basic features for video, audio, controls, camera, events, etc. This library will be released under GPL in a few days.
To demonstrate some of the functions supported by this library, he has created the application "TKC Demo 01", a technical demo for PS3 developed with the legal SDK "PSL1GHT."
This demo utilizes simple graphics drawing, playing sound files (using a SPU) and has support for the Playstation Eye (Eyetoy does not work yet.) You can interact with the application through the controller pad:
Up / Down: Increase / Decrease vertical speed TKC logo.
Left / Right: Increase / Decrease speed TKC horizontal logo.
START: Exit the application.
