336w ago - Sony have released a video demonstrating the newly redesigned PlayStation Store, set to launch later this month.

The clean new look certainly makes the store easier to navigate, and the ability to watch video previews of PSN titles straight from within the store is icing on the cake.

In other PS3 related news, the upcoming 2.30 firmware will feature support for DTS-HD Master Audio. The update is due out on April 15 worldwide.

337w ago - Per Grace Chen, Senior Manager of PLAYSTATION Store today:

Hi everyone. Just a reminder that there's no PLAYSTATION Store update today, but the Store remains open for business.

As announced last week, Warhawk is still on promotion for $29.99 (regular price $39.99).

We're working hard on getting the revamped Store up and running. Keep an eye out for a walk-through video next week.

In the meantime, take a peek at a few screens from the new interface.

Have a great weekend.

Sony confirms new PlayStation Store won't be region locked

400°
337w ago - SCEA has confirmed that there will be no changes to the PlayStation Store as part of its revamp in relation to region locking.

So just like before, users with a number of accounts relating to different regions will not be locked out of those PlayStation stores.

To quote: With the new PlayStation Store moving to a native XMB application and away from a web-based system, many have questioned if Sony would take the opportunity to region lock the store. So we passed along the question.

The Official answer, thankfully, is no. Our friendly SCEA rep "confirmed that no changes to the store will be made as part of this revamp relating to region locking".

So like before, those users with multiple master accounts corresponding to different regions will indeed not be locked out of those PlayStation Stores.

SCEE quiet on 2.30 details, how new PS Store will be deployed

50°
337w ago - SCEE refused to be drawn on details of Firmware 2.30 this morning, following yesterday's confirmation that the PS3 software update would be needed to use the new version of PlayStation Store, to be released in mid-April in both the US and Europe.

To quote: We have made no official announcement of the details of Firmware 2.30 or exactly how the new Store will be deployed, a rep stated.

If the information released yesterday was correct, there should be a full Firmware release in the next two weeks, straight off the back of 2.20, which added BD-Live functionality only last week. Time will tell for sure...
