PS3 Exclusive Elevator Action Deluxe Ascends Tomorrow on PSN

400°
138w ago - Today Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has announced that PS3 exclusive title Elevator Action Deluxe ascends to PSN tomorrow!

To quote: Back in the 80s, it wasn't uncommon for restaurants to have a lone arcade cabinet sitting by the entrance. I've got fond, but hazy memories of a suburban Philadelphia diner where I discovered an innovative title called Elevator Action. I also recall a bacon cheeseburger...

In the 80s, most games confined you to a simple side-scrolling plane - it was akin to being on rails. Elavator Action enabled you to traverse a building vertically. It was a revelation. It was true freedom. It was, well, a different time.

So when I learned that Elevator Action Deluxe was on its way exclusively to the PlayStation Network, my nostalgia was inflamed. With the game available tomorrow, Square Enix offered me the chance to ask a few questions of Producer Yosuke Tsuda.

PlayStation.Blog: Would you categorize Elevator Action for PSN as a straight remake or more of a reinterpretation?

Yosuke Tsuda, Producer, Elevator Action Deluxe: We began the development process based on three concepts:

• Have visuals that allow people to instantly recognize this as...

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for PS3 Hits PSN Tomorrow

300°
138w ago - Today Creative Director Ed Boon at NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for PS3 will be hitting fans tomorrow on PSN.

To quote: About 20 years ago, Midway was at the cutting edge of arcade game development using a unique method of creating very realistic images. By digitizing live actors, shot in front of a green screen, a number of games were developed that had a photorealistic look not found in any other games.

Games like Narc, Smash TV, NBA Jam and Terminator 2: Arcade all used this technology. This approach was applied to a number of game categories including sports, gun games, and shooters. One genre, however, had not yet been attempted - the fighting game.

In 1991, a small team of four decided to try making a fighting game using digitized graphics. The goal was to make something bold, shocking, and as realistic looking as possible. The game would eventually become Mortal Kombat, the first in a series that have sold over 30 million games.

Mortal Kombat was the "bad boy" of fighting games. It unapologetically depicted blood and had a much more hard-edge presentation than its tamer competition. Mortal Kombat's bold presentation wasn't without its controversy, but that only fueled the game's unstoppable popularity. In addition, Mortal...

Videos: Cubixx HD Launches on EU PlayStation Store Tomorrow

100°
140w ago - Laughing Jackal Community Manager Ross Brierley has announced today that Cubixx HD launches on the European PlayStation Store tomorrow and shared some video footage below as well.

To quote: Laughing Jackal are the developer of classic PSN minis such as Duael Invaders, Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags, Vibes, the forthcoming OMG-Z and, of course, Cubixx.

Today I'm here to talk to you about Cubixx HD the sequel to Cubixx coming soon exclusively to PlayStation 3.

Cubixx HD is a modern-day take on classic area capture games such as Qix, but with an awesome twist: Instead of a 2D game field, Cubixx HD expands this addictive game concept across all six sides of a cube. That's six times the danger and six times the fun.

Following on from the success of Cubixx we've added more; lots more, in fact.  Cubixx HD now features 50 levels of Arcade action playable in both single player and 7 player Co-Op.  All these levels are also playable in Time Attack, Score Attack and Line Attack modes, with up to 7 players competing at once and featuring over 150 online leaderboards.

That's not all! There are also 50 super-addictive Challenges, plus...

Splinter Cell HD Trilogy PS3 Sneaks in PlayStation Store Tomorrow

50°
141w ago - Ubisoft International Product Manager Akshay Paul has announced that Splinter Cell HD Trilogy on PS3 sneaks into PlayStation Store tomorrow.

To quote: It's nice to be able to sit and talk to you all after months of work. As you may have heard, tomorrow we are releasing a trilogy compilation of our very first Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell games on the PlayStation Store.

It includes Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and you will also be able to buy it on Blu-ray Disc at a later date.

As well as being able to buy all three games as a bundle, you can also purchase them separately as single games. The bundle costs €29.99/£23.99 and each individual title is €9.99/£7.99.

Each and every one of them has been highly acclaimed, each exceeding a 90% metacritic rating and bringing the stealth action genre to new heights. I am sure many of you are thrilled at the idea of embodying the cold and calculating Sam Fisher again.

You'll be able to relive this epic series in high definition with enhanced graphics fully remastered in 1080p HD. To top it off, owners of 3DTVs will be able to experience Sam Fisher's adventures in stereoscopic 3D.

And finally, we...
