New Screenshots Revealed for Final Horizon on PS4 and PS Vita

50°
27w ago - Eiconic Games Art and Creative Director Simon Credland revealed new screenshots for Final Horizon on PS4 and PS Vita today!

To quote: This is Si at indie games developer Eiconic Games in the UK. We've been busy developing Final Horizon for PS4 and PS Vita, and are excited to share the first batch of screenshots with Playstation.Blog readers.

Final Horizon has some great puzzling levels that will demand all your skills to solve, and frantic action levels where you won't even have time to blink.

The story takes the player on a journey from planet to planet and into dark, undiscovered galaxies that are home to the alien Swarm. But not only will you play on planetary surfaces, but you'll also get to take over the Overwatch orbital satellite as a killstreak reward. Ever want to shoot the legs off a spider from space?

As you play through Final Horizon, the levels get tougher, the Swarm gets stronger, and you're going to need to think fast and act faster.

This is a strategic, puzzling, action-packed tower defense game. We've developed and optimized our PS Vita engine to be able to pack more action in that we know Vita players have been asking for. Developing on PS4 means more of everything - more explosions, more special effects, and we plan to add more during the coming...

50°
27w ago - Digital Dreams Level Designer Roy van de Mortel shared a new video trailer today spotlighting the unusual world of Metrico on PS Vita.

To quote: We're celebrating! We're in the final stages of Metrico's production. We'd like to celebrate this phase with a special, branching trailer. We got a lot of requests to show some Metrico gameplay, but we're not showing everything just yet.

We're really excited though to finally release a trailer with in-game footage. The trailer let's you choose whether to watch a [Register or Login to view links] version or a [Register or Login to view links].

As we explained in our previous blog post, Metrico is all about using input to shape the infographics around you and solve puzzles. In this blog entry, we'd like to give a bit more insight into the world of Metrico and our design approach.

Over the last few months, we've been working hard on finishing Metrico's last worlds. There will be six worlds in the final game. We wanted every world to feel fresh and exciting, that's why each world has its own shapes, type of infographics, colors, music, mechanics, challenges, typography, and animation, which all tie closely...

Rain Games: Teslagrad on PS3 & PS Vita: The Secrets of Magnetism

50°
28w ago - Today Eduardo Garabito of Rain Games announced that Teslagrad is hitting PS3 and PS Vita this year with some Secrets of Magnetism detailed below.

To quote: Hi! We've wanted to write this piece for a long time. It's been great to announce Teslagrad for PS3 and PS Vita coming this year, and it's also wonderful to have this opportunity to present our game in detail.

Let's suppose that the question here is simply "Hey, what's Teslagrad about?" We've had to answer that question many, many times, and we have our response down to a science:

Teslagrad is a puzzle platformer with action elements, where magnetism and other electromagnetic powers are the key to go throughout the game, and thereby discover the secrets kept in the long abandoned Tesla Tower.

That's quite the statement. How did you like it? It's like a mantra. We just can't recall how many times we've said and/or written that. And that's why we're looking forward to this post. Now we can go into more detail. So, Teslagrad is...

Magnetism: Magnets, we know how they work! Electromagnetic forces are the lifeblood of the game, either acting as a magnetic elevator or as part of teslamancer weaponry (just to pick a couple of the many examples). Magnetic interaction allows you to not only play around as much as you...

17-Bit Announces Galak-Z is Coming to PlayStation Vita, Details

50°
28w ago - 17-Bit Senior Producer Raj Joshi announced today that Galak-Z is coming to PlayStation Vita with details below.

To quote: We here at 17-BIT are ecstatic to announce we'll be bringing the same seat-of-your-pants space shooting gameplay of Galak-Z to PS Vita. Since each game of Galak-Z is a unique, randomly-generated adventure, you'll be able to dive deep into a fresh experience anytime you have a free moment, no matter where you are.

Counting From One to Infinity

As we designed Galak-Z, we realized a funny thing - we kept building onto one main level rather than adding new levels.

Typically, we'd be building new levels left and right to express new gameplay concepts, but with Galak-Z, we were focused on how each new enemy, trap, plant, and weapon fit into the mix. So we kept mushing them together in one big level. It was glorious, and it was known as "the cave."

Why did the same environment stay fun for so long? What really matters in Galak-Z is the interactions between all the moving parts. Combat with intelligent squads, getting attacked by a hostile environment, weighing the risks of a deadly magma pool versus the sheer style of knocking some hapless enemy into it... As long as we kept switching it around, it kept being interesting.

The...
