26w ago - Digital Extremes Project Lead Steve Sinclair posted up a demo video today spotlighting Press X to Ninja: Warframe on PS4 for PlayStation 4 fans below.
To quote: Do you like Ninjas? What if they were in space? What if you could slash enemies, blast them with guns and obliterate them with crazy exo-armor powers? Would you like to level-up, build a Space Dojo with your friends and hang out, dueling each other and trading wall-running stories?
Good news! Warframe is your ticket to all of that and its coming to PlayStation 4, for free, at launch! Not only that... we'll be showing the world Warframe on PS4 next week at E3 (gulping Tums as we speak)!
Our team has been polishing the demo and cramming in as much as we can to 'wow' everyone who gets there hands on it at E3!
On Friday we showed the rest of our development studio Warframe on PS4 for the first time and the reaction was unanimous - 1080p Warframe is smooth and beautiful! Like kids with new toys, playing with the PS4's toolbox of goodies has our minds spinning with design ideas for Warframe...
I love the DualShock 4. The triggers feel awesome and the touch pad is a sweet addition. Right now, we're using the touch pad to activate your crazy Warframe powers on the run with a flick of your thumb or finger....
26w ago - Spearhead Games Co-founder Simon Darveau shared details on Tiny Brains for PlayStation 4 today, dubbed an experiment in PS4 teamwork!
Below are the details, to quote: After my Spearhead Games co-founders and I wrapped up Assassin's Creed III and Dead Space 3, respectively, we wanted to get out of the AAA world and back to the basics of why we love video games: playing together with friends, finding new ways to interact and challenging your brain.
With these ideas in mind, we founded our own indie studio, and started making Tiny Brains, a co-op puzzle game - which we can now reveal will be headed to PS4!
Tiny Brains is set in a lab where four super-powered animals have to work together to solve puzzles and escape from a mad scientist's experiment. We chose this theme because now that we are indie devs and have more flexibility, experimentation is what we're all about in our creative process.
We have a "no design doc" policy at Spearhead. Being able to do this has been one of the best things about going indie, and the philosophy helps us make significant creative developments in a short amount of time.
With no design docs, we can think about how to make the best experience at all times. When a designer has a...
28w ago - Thekla Incorporated President Jonathan Blow shared some video footage today which include conversations with the creators of upcoming title The Witness on the PlayStation 4 / PS4 video game console.
To quote: It's been a few months since our last post, so I think it's a nice time to let people know how the game is coming along.
If you haven't heard about The Witness, it is a game about exploration and puzzle-solving in an open world. Here's our trailer:
The open-world aspect of the design is important; it means you have freedom in terms of where you go and what puzzles you choose to approach right now. At any time you can just stop what you're doing, turn around and go somewhere else, and the game world has plenty of new things to show you.
It's interesting to try and design a puzzle game this way. Puzzle games are usually linear, because the designers want to make sure you have solved a puzzle before going on to a more difficult one.
But in The Witness we have a broader idea about what makes puzzles interesting, and this lets us be versatile in designing the flow of gameplay. We build systems of puzzles...
29w ago - Earlier today a purported PlayStation 4 / PS4 E3 2013 trailer went viral on YouTube, and has since been confirmed as a fake by Sony.
Below are the details via Kotaku (linked above) alongside the PlayStation 4 / PS4 trailer for those who missed it:
That Cool 'PS4 Teaser' Is A Fake, Sony Says - Whoever made this clip wants you to believe it’s the first look at the PlayStation 4 hardware. But, Sony tells me it's a fake. Too bad.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't blame someone just wandering over onto the Internet for guessing it wasn't. Let's consider the footage, shall we? Sure, E3 is right around the corner and the super-slick 44-second video seems like it might be the work of a professional creative shop.
The facial reaction shots are intercut with looks at an already-announced PS4 game - Infamous: Second Son, in case it's not clear - and hardware but the images and video in those segments are readily available all over the Web. And the supposed hardware could be one of the many fan-made renders that are jostling for attention on the Internet.
Granted, this could be the work of MOFILM, the firm that Sony recently hired to handle crowd-sourced advertising. As good as it looks, it almost certainly be the work of a dedicated fan looking to capitalize on the excitement leading...
31w ago - Ubisoft Community Developer Nik Schmidt shared a video today detailing PlayStation 4 development on Watch_Dogs for Sony's upcoming PS4 video game console.
To quote: Today we're pleased to debut a Watch_Dogs developer diary as part of PlayStation's "Conversations With Creators," an ongoing series that focuses on PS4 game development with some of the most accomplished game studios in the world.
In this video, you get to meet two of the driving forces in the Watch_Dogs dev team: Dominic, our senior producer and Jonathan, the creative director. Together, they discuss the vision of Watch_Dogs and ultimately, some of the development details for the PlayStation platforms.
By working in close collaboration with PlayStation, the team is working to harness the full power of the PS4. This gives them the opportunity to create a truly no-compromises experience with high-resolution environment textures and advanced special effects. The game experience, much like the city you'll get to play in, will be rich, deep, and detailed.
As Jonathan and Dominic explain in the video, connectivity is at the heart of the Watch_Dogs experience. We already know Aiden is connected to his own environment, but we also want...
