50°
267w ago - Sony's Product Marketing Manager Rob Alvarez has announced that BUZZ! is heading to PlayStation Home.

To quote: We're going to launch a brand new space in PlayStation Home called BUZZ! HQ, where players can chat and meet up with other trivia fans in a new lobby area or take part in a massive 64-player BUZZ! trivia showdown!

The game works by making you run around the studio on a massive BUZZ! Buzzer to answer questions, all of which are taken from the best content that you've created on the [Register or Login to view links] Web site.

Four colored answer buttons are laid out on the floor and you need to make sure you're standing on the right answer when the time runs out.

The winner's decided over four rounds, and there are a number of exclusive Home prizes up for grabs for the greatest players.

We are very excited to be bringing a fantastic new BUZZ! multiplayer game to Home and we know this is going to be a great social experience.

So keep an eye out for the new BUZZ! space, which will go live very soon. In the meantime, check out this virtual tour of the space and let us know what you think.

Comet Crash Hits PSN Tomorrow for PlayStation 3 Users

275w ago - Pelfast President John Bates has announced that Comet Crash is hitting Sony's PlayStation Network tomorrow. To quote:

The inspiration for [Register or Login to view links] comes from traditional tower defense games, but we think it's time for some exciting twists.

Generally in tower defense games, you build up weapons to protect your base from oncoming rushes of enemies. Killing enemy swarms is a lot of fun, but isn't it time to take out the nest? In Comet Crash, you use a variety of weapons to defend against enemy rushes, and you get the chance to fight back. The real objective is to rush the enemy base with your own offensive army!

In the Campaign, your goal is to take control of four different comets that alien forces have sent to wreak havoc on your home planet. To save your planet, you'll have to capture and secure each comet.

The alien civilization has advanced technologies that you gain access to as you defeat them. The Campaign supports up to 3 players for offline co-op play and offers three difficulty levels: Beginner, Casual, and Ranked. Between collecting resources, building up armies, defending your base, and determining your winning strategy, there is never a dull moment!

Five Games That Need to Come to Sony's PlayStation Portable

300°
280w ago - With the announcement of some stellar titles arriving on the PSP this year, it would appear that owners of the device finally have a good reason to charge it up again and book a long train journey.

With the idea of creating a cutesy LBP level during rush hour headaches-ville and ripping through Motorstorm's snowy, mountainous terrain while sitting on the toilet firmly processed in our brains, it seems only fitting that we discuss which games should also be brought to the device.

1. Dead Space

Having just been revealed as an upcoming release for the Nintendo Wii, Dead Space is clearly a franchise that EA are taking very seriously. Its blend of horror and action was well received when it was originally released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2008. The sound was also remarkably well implemented, helping it to be one of the most talked about games of the year.

Its eerie music, snarling monsters lurking around every corner and random spaceship noise had me on the edge of my seat. It would be very interesting to see how the game's intensity could be scaled down for the handheld, while it would represent a superb opportunity to push the PSP's sound capabilities to the limit.

2. Bioshock

As far as I'm aware, FPS games on the PSP haven't...

Hope Fades for the PlayStation 3 as a Comeback Player

400°
288w ago - Here we go again... the Wall Street Journal aren't feeling too good about the possibility of the PlayStation 3 console's success.

In their latest article (linked above) they doubt it will come back and assert that the PS3 is sagging, while the XBox 360 and Wii are widening their leads.

They pick up on a number of factors including the PS3's price and lack of 'attractive' and exclusive titles.

To quote: With Stringer saying, 'We will be profitable,' you can't cut price," says Michael Pachter, a research analyst at Wedbush Morgan Securities in Los Angeles. He expects Sony to cut prices at the start of its new fiscal year in April, which could help boost sales.

Sony also is suffering from a lack of attractive titles that are exclusive to the PS3. Microsoft has hit the jackpot with two action-adventure game franchises, Halo and Gears of War, which are available only on the Xbox 360. Most of Nintendo's top games are Made in house and playable only on the Wii.

Sony used to have a stable of exclusive games. But in recent years, Microsoft has persuaded most game publishers to release highly anticipated games to it and Sony at the same time.

Last month, four of the five best-selling U.S. games were exclusive to either the Wii or Xbox 360, according to...
