Video: PlayStation Move E3 2010 Sony PS3 Tech Demo Arrives

200°
232w ago - Today IGN has posted up a PlayStation Move Sony PS3 tech demo from E3 2010 which can be seen below alongside a Kung Fu Rider PlayStation Move video.

As recently revealed, the PlayStation Move motion controller features an orb at the head which can glow in any of a full range of colors using RGB light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

The colored light serves as an active marker, the position of which can be tracked along the image plane by the PlayStation Eye.

The uniform spherical shape and known size of the light also allows the system to simply determine the controller's distance from the PlayStation Eye through the light's image size, thus enabling the controller's position to be tracked in three dimensions with high precision and accuracy.

The sphere-based distance calculation allows the controller to operate with minimal processing latency, as opposed to other camera-based control techniques on the PlayStation 3.

Those interested can check out the PlayStation Move E3 2010 Sony PS3 tech demo and a Kung Fu Rider PlayStation Move video below!

Sony PlayStation Hints on New Hardware Revealed at E3 2010

500°
233w ago - The Electronic Entertainment Expo is set to begin this week, and according to Sony's [Register or Login to view links] site they are set to reveal new hardware at this year's conference.

Excluding the PlayStation Motion Controller, it is more likely a PSP2 may be revealed this year over the recently rumored PS4.

To quote: "According to the official Sony E3 site, Sony will showcase new hardware on Tuesday: E3 2010 is coming! Meet us here to see what awesome games and hardware is being revealed!

While some speculate a PSP2 announcement from Sony is a possibility, the best bet right now would be another revision of the current PSP hardware with a design more akin to that of the PSPGo or the hardware simply being the Move controller.

Sony is set to take stage at E3 in just over 2-days, so we'll know for certain then."

Sony and Square Enix Sued for Final Fantasy XIII Freezing on PS3

650°
234w ago - As if there weren't enough class action lawsuits filed recently for the removal of OtherOS on PS3, IGN reports that yet another [Register or Login to view links] (PDF) is brewing against Sony and Square Enix over Final Fantasy XIII freezing and in some cases breaking the user's PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: "The lawsuit, filed on June 2, 2010 by Daniel Wolf of San Diego, Calif., alleges Final Fantasy XIII has caused 'severe and widespread damage' to Sony PS3 gaming systems since its release on March 9, 2010.

The lawsuit states that, for many consumers playing Final Fantasy XIII, has 'caused their PS3 consoles to freeze and become totally and permanently inoperable.'

Wolf said he purchased a copy of Final Fantasy XIII the day it was released, and when attempting to save his game, his PS3 became unresponsive and would no longer play any other media after restarting it.

The suit also alleges that both Sony and Square Enix blamed the issue on one another. Square Enix said the issue resulted from Sony's console, and Sony blamed the issue on a faulty Final Fantasy XIII game disc. Neither company...
