Video: Heavy Rain PlayStation 3 TV Ad Unveiled by Sony

100°
235w ago - Today Sony European Product Manager Alex Pavey has unveiled the official Heavy Rain PS3 TV ad on the PlayStation Blog.

To quote: Hi everyone - Heavy Rain will start hitting shelves in parts of Europe tomorrow, so I thought I'd give you a peek at the TV ad, versions of which will be running in many countries over the next few weeks.

From Director David Cage, to quote: "Heavy Rain is about normal people who have landed in extraordinary situations. I wanted a much more personal story.

The first thing that came to my mind, as a father of two little boys, was that the main theme should simply be a father's love for his son. This is not a game about saving the princess or the world. Its purely about a father's love.

The main story will revolve around four different characters, and we're putting the spotlight on their perceptions.

The question 'what is good and what is evil' is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint... I believe heavily in moral choices, I'm going to use them A LOT.

They're not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance."

Sony Details State of PlayStation Home for PS3 Owners in 2010

235w ago - Today Sony's PlayStation Home Director Jack Buser has detailed the state of PS Home for PS3 owners in 2010.

To quote: As many of you know, 2009 was a big year for PlayStation Home. The millions of you that use PlayStation Home saw us transform from a 3D virtual world into a true social gaming platform with more than 50 spaces and over 100 games.

One of the biggest highlights of the year was the launch of the popular Sodium One space, which has redefined what a social game can be by combining massive action, stunning graphics and social experiences in a way never done before.

PlayStation Home has become a leader in the evolution of social games from simple 2D web games to immersive high-definition 3D experiences made possible by the tremendous horsepower of the PlayStation 3.

As we start the new year, we are not slowing down. We are adding new spaces, community events and virtual items each and every week, with many of these updates based directly on your feedback.

Last week marked an important milestone in our evolution with a new iteration of the Mall, which was heavily influenced by our community's request to have a more streamlined shopping experience.

The Mall now features stores from some of our closest partners, including Loot from [Register or Login to view links]

Sony's PlayStation 3 Increases Market Share Across the Globe

650°
237w ago - A new report on the growth trends of video consumer devices, including gaming consoles, recently found that Sony's PS3 is increasing its global market share.

To quote: "The PS3 is dominant in Japan and Korea, and as of June 2008, has begun to outsell the Xbox 360 in Europe.

It is also steadily increasing its market share in all other regions across the globe, including in the North American market," the report said, while noting that the Xbox 360 still sells more than the PS3 in North America, and consequently, 360 sales still beat PS3 in total worldwide sales.

Even so, PS3 sales have been surging (44% over the holidays) and SCEA senior vice president of Marketing and PlayStation Network, Peter Dille, recently insisted that PS3 will eventually overtake Xbox 360.

Research and Markets also noted that the Americas market should remain the largest for all the console makers through 2013.

That said, "The high population density and rapid uptake of technology in countries such as Japan and Korea, and to a lesser extent in Singapore and Hong Kong, see a disproportionately high level of console sales compared to the rest of the world.

Console sales are also fairly high in Western Europe and are growing considerably in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe,...
