50°
313w ago - Have you yet to purchase Crysis? Take out that best buy gift card you have lying around, and use it because the game is getting better, and better each day.

Even better Crysis Warhead is coming out, and I'm sure that you can put that good old best buy gift card to good use. That's unless your planing on getting Star Wars the same day. The modding community is been ever expanding.

This morning we posted about a portal gun for the game that would allow you to teleport yourself. Now we have something more visual that may please the eyes. The mod community has been working on config files for the game for the past year. One member known as [HP] has done a fantastic job of polishing up the file to maximize your graphics.

Yes, that's right you can achieve graphics beyond the highest setting currently available. The hefty requirements are that you have a Nvidia 8800 graphic card, as well as 2GB of ram. What makes this config file better than the current one installed on your computer?

- Better shadows
- HDR
- Parallax Mapping
- Very high quality textures, terrain and vegetation
- Lightning improved
- High Quality particles
- Tweaked Lods for best FPS/Quality relation.

Still not convinced to use that best buy card to go purchase the...

Nvidia Chipsets are now History!

50°
319w ago - There are a ton of 'rumors' floating around about Nvidia giving up the ghost on its ailing chipset division. Nvidia is desperately trying to deny it, but don't believe the spin, the division is deader than an Nvidia mobile GPU.

Just over a week ago, Nvidia's maximum leader, Jen-Hsun Huang, held a meeting with Taiwanese mobo partners. He directly asked them if there was a reason why Nvidia should stay in the chipset business. You could hear the crickets chirp.

In mainland China. No one came up with a reason, so the division was officially killed, and the teams will be rolled into GPU projects.

Nvidia PR is having the proverbial hissy-fit, but ignore it, they do that a lot. The INQUIRER has talked to people who were at the meeting, and they confirmed the reports, and are dead convnced that Nvidia chipsets are a thing of the past.

This is not to say that there will be no new chipsets from today. Things currently done or almost done will be out, but new designs won't be started, and early-stage projects are not likely to continue. Deep breaths people, projects on the near term horizon are safe, or at least safe from that paticular axe.

This mercy killing was strongly hinted at during Cebit in March, and was likely a done deal back then. If you look at the abysmal performance...

Sony Confirms Licensed Bluetooth Headset for PS3

50°
324w ago - Internet reports purported of an official, licensed Bluetooth headset made specifically for the PlayStation 3 back in March. Turns out it's real, as Sony confirmed today that the headset in question will be packaged with the retail-exclusive Blu-ray version of SOCOM: Confrontation and also will be sold separately.

Unlike most standard run-of-the-mill Bluetooth headsets, this one in particular will feature a mute button. Additionally, it will ship with a handy USB powered charging dock.

The product is slowly exiting the prototype phase, so pricing details have yet to be finalized, but expect more information to come to light as Confrontation nears its scheduled mid-September release.
