Customized 'Homicide' PS3 Case Mod is Bloody Awesome

350°
293w ago - This brutal PS3 Mod is entitled 'Homicide' and rightly so, for it has blood stains all over its clean white cover and simply looks like it was a witness to some awfully ruthless crime.

To quote: It is a wonderful addition to all the different PS3 Mods we have seen before and bloody awesome.

The creative mod for the PlayStation 3 was created by Jerry Thampan, and he goes on to explain its development:

...my ps3 that i customized. airbrushed white, blood done w/ red paint put into a spoon and drawn in, then clear coated twice...

I salute Jerry for his imagination and creativity. He also mentioned that some PS3 accessories and peripherals with the same blood stained design will be coming soon.

I guess this kind of mod brings the violence we see in the video games of today outside as well... but no harm done.

PS3 External WiFi Antenna Mod to Boost Signal Strength & Range!

550°
295w ago - Today mx24 dropped us an e-mail to let us know of a new PS3 modification he has posted at Spanish Web site Elotrolado (linked above).

In summary, he has added a SMA connector to his Sony PlayStation 3 console and as a result he was able to increase the WiFi signal from 20% to 52%.. over a 25% jump!

Below is a picture of the finished PS3 External WiFi Antenna Mod, and also 'before' and 'after' pics of the Internet Connection screens.

To quote in part, roughly translated: Good, after several days of work and investigation, I have been able to replace one of the internal antennas wifi of ps3 (ANT0-WLAN) by 9 an external antenna of dbi, connected through connecting SMA, implanted in the back part of the console.

To comment that once with the materials in my power, and with the clear things on the way to act, this mod has not taken to me but of 30 minutes. Including the disassembling, implantation of the connector and final assembly of the machine.

We begin by the necessary materials:

1. a PS3 with board Wifi, that is to say, that our black has Wifi connection.

2. a Pigtail UFL to SMA female of 30 cm. (Between 10 and 15 Euros)

3. an antenna with male connection SMA; it has of all the powers, from 5 dbi to 50. (from 5 Euros)

Introducing PS3 Batarang: PS3 Boomerang Controller Mod Arrives

50°
316w ago - HotDog-Cart recently completed this PlayStation 3 boomerang controller. The boomerang was originally shown with the PlayStation 3 prototype, and was severely panned by the press... but now it's a reality as a result of some custom modification work.

He started with a cheap 3rd-party controller that was approximately boomerang shaped. He enlarged the controller body ~20% using bondo. The internals were replaced with gear from an official Sony controller. It was finished with a coat of black paint.

It's definitely a nice build and the new internals mean it probably feels as good as any factory controller.

To quote: What I basically did was take a cheap PS2 boomerang-ish shaped controller, and take its guts out and modify a REAL official Six Axis Controller and put it inside the shell. I also expanded the shell 15%.

I got the controller painted black, so it would be a batman inspired "Batarang Controller".

Please excuse my picture quality. My 5mp camera thinks brand new batteries, are dead. Also, excuse my bondo job. It was my first time.

You can see the white PS button. I didnt put any image there due to copyright reasons.

New X-Rated Mod discovered in GTA IV?!

300°
335w ago - Those clever hackers have done it again! Hacker group VladsBoys' analysis of the pirated copy of GTA IV for the 360 (leaked days before retail release) has reeled in a big one. The cyber-sleuths knew they were on the trail of something big and yes, you guessed it, they found another never-intended-for-retail-consumption chunk of code in a GTA game.

What the hackers found seems to be an abandoned mission that Rockstar at some point intended on including in the game. We have no idea how far into the process this mission got before it was pulled, but we're pretty sure they knew what they were doing by the mission name... that name was Hot Coughing.

Hacker R*Fan4Lyfe noted in a forum post that while the audio files for the mission were not included in the disc image (and presumably are not on the retail disc either,) the subtitles for the mission dialogue were still present. The mission involves Niko going to the hospital after pulling a groin muscle in one of the game's side missions; a mission that is actually present in the retail game.

While in the hospital, Niko is hounded by an ambulance chasing attorney humorously named Jerk Thompson. The attorney pesters Niko about his accident, trying to convince him that violent cartoons such as Tom & Jerry or Looney Tunes were to blame....
