121w ago - Not to be confused with the upcoming PS Vita, today SCEE's James Gallagher has announced news at Gamescom of a new PSP E-1000 handheld console.
To quote: While most attendees to the SCEE press conference at Gamescom will have anticipated some announcements around PlayStation Vita, our upcoming next generation portable, few would have predicted the unveil of the brand new PSP E-1000.

121w ago - Sony's Senior Social Media Specialist Rey Gutierrez is here with details on the PS3 and PSN video game releases for the coming week today, as follows:
PSone Classics return this week, and No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise finally makes its much deserved high definition debut on PS3 with PS Move support.
No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise - Anime geek Travis Touchdown wins a Beam Katana and starts a new career as a professional killer in this remake of the first entry into the unusual action franchise No More Heroes. There's only one way to the top ranks of the underground world of paid assassins and it's going to get messy.
Lucky for Travis Touchdown, he just knocked off the world's eleventh best without breaking a sweat. The life of fame and fortune couldn't be closer. Heads will roll and names will be taken, but everything is not what it seems.
It all started after Travis was assigned to take on the drifter known as Helter Skelter, the United Assassin Association's 11th ranked assassin. After a grueling battle, Travis emerged the winner, collected the spoils of battle and claimed his title as the new 11th ranked assassin.
However, the situation turns out to be more complicated than Travis first thought. It...
122w ago - Quite some time ago we reported that Korean company LG wanted Sony's PlayStation 3 and Bravia televisions banned in the US for patent infringements relating to Blu-ray playback.
Today Reuters (linked above) reports that both Sony and LG have finally settled their bitter Blu-ray patent dispute through a cross-licensing deal.
To quote: "LG Electronics and Sony said on Thursday that they have resolved patent disputes between the two firms spanning smartphones, TVs and Blu-ray technology, with LG adding that they have signed a cross-licensing deal.
LG and Sony recently agreed to drop patent infringement lawsuits against each other," a spokeswoman at South Korea's LG Electronics said. Sony confirmed this, but declined to comment further.
Sony had filed a complaint against LG with the U.S. International Trade Commission, seeking to block LG from shipping its Rumor Touch and several other smartphones to the United States.
122w ago - Today JohnAaron has leaked the Sony PS3 SDK GCC Cell OS LV2 Toolchain sources on IRC, which PlayStation 3 developers can use to aid in the ongoing creation of an open-source PS3 Software Development Kit.
To quote: Previously, coders could not make their own versions of GCC with the PS3 SDK. However, that setback no longer stands in the way with the release of these files.
In addition, dev's can now port later versions of GCC to the SDK, as well as make their own toolchain. Once again, it's stressed that if you're not a developer this won't be of any use to you, but this will come in handy for developers.
