Sony Introduces Top Darts for PS3 on PlayStation Move via PSN

200°
222w ago - XDev Studio Europe Senior Producer Mark McGinley has introduced Top Darts today for PS3 on PlayStation Move via PSN and shared some details, as follows:

The development team at [Register or Login to view links] have been fully immersing themselves in both the sport and the Move Controller for several months now.

We believe they've come up with something that's not only true to the real game thanks to the precision of the Move Controller, but which is also a great deal of fun.

The game's controls have been specially designed to take advantage of the three dimensional depth and precision of the PlayStation Move and the interaction between player and dart is better than any darts game you've ever played before.

When bringing the sport to the PlayStation 3 we wanted to ensure that the game was not only a challenge that rewards practice, but also a great game to play with friends.

Top Darts combines a mix of classic Dart games, like 501, Around The Clock and Cricket, with extensive League & Cup competition modes, as well as a large selection of varied game modes.

If competing against your friends is more your thing Top Darts allows up to 8 players to battle it out across a range of competitive games and events specifically...

Sony Announces Standalone 320GB PS3 System is Available Soon

500°
222w ago - Sony PlayStation 3 Marketing Manager Kim Nguyen has announced today that the standalone 320GB PS3 system will be available soon for consumers.

To quote: With all of the great new movies, music, TV shows, games and game demos being distributed over the PlayStation Network, it became clear that we needed to offer PlayStation 3's with larger hard drives to store all of the media for our most active users.

Back in August we announced the availability of a new 160GB PS3 system for $299.99 (MSRP) as well as a 320GB PS3 system bundled with a PlayStation Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye and copy of Sports Champions for $399.99 (MSRP).

Many of you asked if you can buy the 320GB PS3 system on its own and we're very excited to announce that we will begin shipping the standalone 320GB systems today to your local retailers.

The digital distribution trend is undeniably gaining momentum, and we here at PlayStation are committed to providing you with the hardware you need to support as much downloadable media as possible.

The 320GB PS3 system, which will retail for $349.99, has the largest storage capacity of any next-gen console and will continue to provide the same high-quality gaming that PlayStation fans have come to expect. For only $50 more, you get twice...

Sony Previews PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51

50°
222w ago - Today Sony's Deputy Editor Leon Hurley has shared a preview at what is included in PlayStation Official Magazine UK Issue 51.

To quote: This week I've been playing an inordinate amount of Borderlands and Fallout New Vegas. The main things I've learned are that I'll pretty much do anything for XP, and I like guns that set people on fire. Probably shouldn't admit that last one out loud. Anyway, on to the mag!

We've got loads of good stuff this month. Like interviews with Quantic Dream's David Cage (talking about what's next after Heavy Rain) and Ninja Theory's Tameem Antoniades (talking about the new look Dante in Devil May Cry).

However, our mega interview is a double whammy of Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. The legendary developers talk about their new game, Shadow of the Damned, as well as each other's bad habits and whether they'll ever start a band.

Preview-wise we've got new info on the sexy/weird Catherine from Persona dev Atlus, Resistance 3, Alice: Madness Returns, the Ico and Shadow Of Colossus HD remakes, and The Last Guardian.

Although the big news is our final word on Call Of Duty: Black Ops. I wandered off to visit Treyarch in LA to see the latest on the game, including playing it 3D, which was all sorts of wow. Plus I grilled...

Sony PlayStation Rewards: Earn Exclusive Status and Recognition

500°
222w ago - Update: Several users have confirmed that Sony's PlayStation Rewards invites are indeed going out and the program is now live!

Sony PlayStation Network Sr. Director Susan Panico has introduced PlayStation Rewards today, where PlayStation fans can earn exclusive status and recognition.

To quote: Today, we're excited to share news of the launch of PlayStation Rewards, a new program that recognizes and rewards our users for simply doing what they love - playing games and interacting with the entertainment content that PlayStation has to offer.

We really wanted to create something that says, "thank you" for being a loyal PlayStation fan.

In its initial launch tomorrow (Oct. 28th), PlayStation Rewards will be an invitation-only beta to all eligible PlayStation Plus and [Register or Login to view links] members. We're kicking things off as a beta so that we can get feedback from our most loyal fans in order to make it the best possible rewards program it can be.

It's also worth noting that during the beta phase, the program will be focused on PlayStation 3 owners, but we hope to include PSP users as well not too far down the road. Oh, and one more thing: PlayStation Rewards will be free...

Sony Previews FirstPlay Episode 30, Arrives Wednesday on PSN

50°
222w ago - Sony Associate Editor Nathan Ditum has shared a preview of FirstPlay Episode 30 today, which arrives this Wednesday on PSN.

To quote: The blood dripping down the walls and the sickly aroma of toffee apples can only mean that it's Halloween.

Or at least that it's close enough to Halloween for us to make episode 30 of FirstPlay, up on the Store from this Wednesday, into a spooky special.

That means we're previewing the hottest upcoming PS3 horrors including F.3.A.R. and Shadows Of The Damned, checking out the meanest video nasties on the PSN Store, and playing through three of your scariest LittleBigPlanet levels.

And we've also got a special feature asking the FirstPlay and Official PlayStation Magazine teams to talk about their scariest ever gaming moments.

Not Halloween-themed but just as scary is our review of grappler sequel WWE Smackdown! Vs Raw 2011, and we've also got our verdict on Fallout New Vegas, an in-depth interview with FreeStyleGames about the making of their hip-hop hit DJ Hero.

And there's more - our regular galleries, including the bloodiest screenshots we could find, and a reviews round-up - and it all comes for just 99p, or less if you buy an £8.99 subscription for 12 weeks.

Enjoy! And have a wicked...
