New Sony Music and Video Unlimited Releases for June 1, 2012

This week, the Music Unlimited service features new releases from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero and Rebecca Ferguson, as well as new singles from Scissor Sisters, 12 Stones, The Walkmen, and Julia Stone.

If you're an iPhone or iPod touch user, head over to the App Store and download the new Music Unlimited service iOS application which is now available.

Sony Announces YouTube is Officially Coming Soon to PS Vita

112w ago - Today Sony's Director of Handheld Consoles Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation Don Mesa has announced that YouTube is officially coming to the PS Vita handheld at the end of June!

To quote: Hi everyone! PS Vita was developed with the idea of creating and delivering compelling content for gamers.

With the recent announcements of applications such as nico nico, Treasure Park, Wake-up Club, and Skype, we're continuing to build out PS Vita's portfolio of applications. Today, we're very excited to announce the latest application addition to PS Vita - [Register or Login to view links]!

Sony Unveils a First Look at Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 for PS3

112w ago - Sony's Latin America Blog Manager Lorenzo Grajales has officially unveiled a first look at Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 for the PS3 entertainment system today with details included in an interview below!

To quote: A few weeks ago, we traveled to Sao Paulo, Brazil to meet with our fellow PlayStation bloggers in Brazil and to attend the debut of Pro Evolution Soccer 2013.

This was the first time we had an opportunity to play the game, and some members of the development team were there to answer our questions. A few games later, here's what we learned:

This year, the PES team has lots of new people onboard who are sure to inject new life into this soccer simulation game, which already has millions of fans around the world.

In addition to all-new AI that I noticed after just a few games, [Register or Login to view links] has implemented many new features in direct response to fan feedback, including better control that gives you more freedom, such as manual passing and full manual shooting, giving you more control over your actions.

It is a bit difficult to use at first, but highly rewarding once you master it. In the short time I used this feature, I obviously couldn't master it, and so I had to resort to traditional shooting.....
 

Rumor: Sony Close to Acquiring High-Profile Cloud Gaming Firm

112w ago - Following up on our previous article, today MCVUK (linked above) reports that according to their sources Sony is indeed close to acquiring a high-profile cloud gaming firm.

To quote: "In a move that will rock the next generation of console gaming, Sony is close to agreeing an acquisition of a high profile cloud gaming firm, MCV understands.

It was reported earlier this week that Sony was to reveal a partnership with a cloud gaming firm - specifically either OnLive or Gaikai - at E3 next week.

Subsequent chatter had seemingly calmed the rumours, suggesting that the proposed agreement was to do with Sony streaming TV services, and not consoles.

However, MCV understands that the deal is far more extensive than anyone could have predicted and will see Sony fully acquire one of the two firms. The deal, our source says, "is close to being signed".

The acquisition has implications for all parts of Sony's business, both in the consumer tech and console divisions.

Although work on PS4 is already well underway, Sony is very likely keen on bringing its PlayStation gaming content to non-console owners - a move finally made possible...
