240w ago - Sony's CEO Howard Stringer has revealed that Sony will be expanding the PlayStation Network to hardware other than the PS3 console.
Stringer noted the expansion is a good idea because the number of PS3's sold puts a limit on the scale of the network possible.
To quote: Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer has spoken on how online services have driven the expansion of the PlayStation business, and has implied that Sony is set to push the PSN service on other devices.
"We will be expanding the PlayStation Network to hardware other than the PS3," he said in an interview with Asian news service Nikkei. He said that Sony will be expanding the PSN because the number of PS3 units sold "puts a limit on the scale of the network possible."
"Sony has a vertical structure for each product line, an organizational structure that resists change, so it will take time to achieve this network growth. However, a large number of employees share my opinion on this," he added.

241w ago - As part of Sony's Pause event in Sydney, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia announced a new service coming exclusively to the PlayStation 3 - Vidzone.
The new service is an optional download that places a new icon on the cross-media bar (XMB), allowing access to a massive number of music videos on demand.
VidZone will also be bringing live concert videos, as well as behind the scenes, interviews and making of footage, to your TV when it launches on PS3.
To quote: According to Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, the service is aiming for a June launch, possibly to coincide with E3 - though this is subject to change.
The service itself, which is listed under 'music' on the XMB as a small TV set with a 'Z' in it, is free to all PS3 owners who choose to install the application. However, revenue appears to be generated from ad placement within the browser window.
While in the Vidzone, you can search for artists, by track, genre or album and you can save playlists. The menu is a simple up/down scroll through letters, rather than the pop-up menu generally used.
The selected video can be maximized with a tap of select, instantly filling the screen with sharp, streaming video content. You can also pause, fast-forward...

To quote: Locust_Star here dropping in to give you the straight truth on what new goodies to expect in PlayStation Home this week. Simply put, this is one of the biggest content updates in the history of Home - and we think you're going to dig what we have in store for you.
By popular demand, we have brought the Siren: Blood Curse space over from Japan (this space will appear in the European region at a later date). The basic overview is this: The Siren Home space is broken up into three basic zones. When you first enter the Siren space, you're outside the Ward of Despair, in what looks like an old, rundown carnival space. The entrance to the Ward is just a few steps away.
Upon entering it, you'll find yourself in the mini-game's lobby. Inside you'll see video screens on the walls and places to sit and mingle with other players waiting their turn to enter the Ward of Despair mini game.
When you're ready to play, simply approach the receptionist and she'll send you into the Ward (assuming that the background downloading is complete, which begins upon entry to the lobby...
