Sneak Preview of New PS3 Ads

50°
370w ago - From Kim Nguyen (Marketing Manager): Hello everyone. When we last spoke, I posted some ads for PS3 third-party heavy hitters Assassin's Creed and Call of Duty 4. Well, as promised, we have more up our sleeves and have a couple more spots to debut for you all before they officially air the week of November 19th.

We've brought back the same pulsating music track (Saliva's "Ladies and Gentlemen") from our PS3 brand spots and feature games from our 3rd party friends like Burnout Paradise, WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008, Madden NFL 08, Time Crisis 4, Assassin's Creed, Haze, and, what you've all been asking for ... Metal Gear Solid 4 from Konami.

Finally, one little housekeeping note. You all must be wondering why the TV spots aren't on the PLAYSTATION Store. We're not just blowing smoke, they will be soon. We need to secure download rights from Saliva. It's really great to see how much you guys love these spots and want to download them. And as Peter Dille said in his recent post, we're truly flattered. So, while the legal eagles work out the details, we hope you can still enjoy the spots here on the blog.

Videos can be seen HERE....

Orange Box PS3 in December

50°
370w ago - Electronic Arts has told Eurogamer today that The Orange Box for PlayStation 3 will be released in Europe next month on 14th December.

Rumors of a slip to 2008 have been tumbling around behind the scenes in the past week, but an EA spokesperson was adamant that it will be released before the end of the year.

The exact date has now been confirmed since we first published this item a few minutes ago. That's how fast things move in the fast-moving world of the Internet, players.

Eurogamer asked Valve to comment on the release date yesterday but was told it was still to-be-confirmed.

The Orange Box PS3 port, handled by EA in the UK, brings Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2 - all hugely critically acclaimed - to a Sony format for the first time.

In its Xbox 360 and PC incarnations we celebrated it all the way up to 10.

Portal, in particular, stood out as one of the most interesting games of the year, while Team Fortress 2 has already attracted an enormous online following. The latter will be playable online over Sony's PlayStation Network.

Expect an Orange Box PS3 review in the run-up to its December release!

PS3 to get Blu-ray Profile 1.1 update before end of 2007

100°
370w ago - The PlayStation 3 is going to get an update to its firmware that will allow it to play Blu-ray profile 1.1 movies much sooner than expected.

On the 2nd January 2008 Sony are releasing Resident Evil: Extinction is the first Blu-ray movie to use profile 1.1. It is promising to be the most technologically advanced blu-ray movie ever as it will feature true picture in picture and 'Blu-Wizard 2' which will allow your player to 'remember' your viewing preferences for the movie, even after you have ejected it. The movie will also feature PlayStation 3 demos of Devil May Cry 4 and the new Resident Evil game.

Sony are going to want to be sure that the biggest market of Blu-ray consumers, PlayStation 3 owners, will be able to take advantage of these features. So expect a firmware update by the end of 2007.
