ModNation Racers Spotlight: 6 Reasons Why This Game Rocks!

50°
216w ago - SCEA Associate Product Marketing Manager Chuck Lacson has spotlighted 6 reasons today why ModNation Racers for PS3 and PSP rocks.

To quote: I'm uber-stoked that everyone will finally get their hands on [Register or Login to view links] TOMORROW on both PS3 and PSP!

Actually playing the final version of the game you've been working on for so many months is probably the best part of being in this incredible industry.

That's how I spent my weekend and that's when I was reminded of why I love playing this game (and why the Photo Mode rocks!).

#1 The Chuck Wagon

It's not sexy, it's not even that cool, but it's MINE. There is no feeling like making and racing your own kart, and it's 100% yours. Look out for this kart online, you'll both know who to aim your weapon at. If it passes you up, you'll know who just smoked you!

#2 Mini-Me

Some racers will make their favorite characters, some will think of some completely original creations of their own. But if you're like me, you will put yourself in the game so when you showboat, you can say, "THAT'S ME!"

#3 Bringing the Hurt (and avoiding it too!)

We've covered this subject in past blog posts,...

Video: ModNation Racers PS3 Interview with UFG Game Designer

50°
217w ago - SCEE's Content Producer James Gallagher has shared a video interview today via the PlayStation Blog with United Front Games designer William Ho.

To quote: Much of our coverage has focused on how easy it is to create your own mods, karts and tracks.

Believe me, it's no exaggeration to say that you can be racing on your own unique course using your own character and vehicle in less than ten minutes.

So when William Ho, Game Designer from [Register or Login to view links], came into the SCEE office for an interview, I wanted to talk about the more advanced creation tools, as well as Career Mode and online racing via PlayStation Network, in greater depth.

Letting your imagination spill onto the screen is a doddle in ModNation Racers and, beneath the surface, there's an astounding array of creative options for you to get your teeth into.

Click below to watch the full interview.

I honestly can't wait to see what you do with them.

Video: First Look at Dead Rising 2 on Sony's PS3 Game Console

50°
218w ago - Sony's Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has unveiled a first look video today of Dead Rising 2 on the PS3 video game console.

To quote: When zombies first descended on the shoppers of fictional Willamette, Colorado in Dead Rising, the PlayStation 3... didn't exist.

Four years later, the zombies are ready to shamble, moan, and hunger for brains again in [Register or Login to view links] - coming to PS3 this August.

Didn't play the first game? We've got you covered. Capcom's Mike Schmitt and Wes Phillips walk us through the sequel's new multiplayer modes, and give newcomers a look at the delicious combination of goofiness and gore that summarize the Dead Rising universe.

We'll have more Dead Rising 2 throughout the Summer. If you've got any questions, throw 'em in the comments - we'll remember them for next time.

Video: 3D Dot Game Heroes PS3 Exclusive Game - It's a Rap!

50°
218w ago - Today Atlus' Manager of Public Relations and Sales Aram Jabbari has shared a video dubbed "It's a Rap!" showcasing the PS3 Exclusive video game 3D Dot Game Heroes.

To quote: To celebrate the game's release, we're also releasing a fifth video vignette.

Not only does it show off the mini-games you'll be distracted by (dooming the poor citizens of Dotnia to never being rescued from the clutches of Dark Bishop Fuelle), but it also happens to be the most radical video we've put out for the game to date.

So, why should you pick up 3D Dot Game Heroes? Is it safe to assume "because it's awesome" isn't quite enough information? Well, how about the following list of things, bulleted for your convenience (and mine):

• An awesome marriage of old-school 8- and 16-bit sprite style art (in beautiful 3D, mind you) with the full power of the PlayStation 3 system.
• A retro-yet-modern soundtrack, filled with addictive tunes that you'll be annoying people in public spaces with your involuntary humming for quite some time.
• A huge, lush kingdom to explore. Dotnia is filled with secrets, large dungeons, powerful bosses, quests to solve, and hilarious characters. Search every nook and cranny; you're bound...
