50°
301w ago - Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars looks like it's going to be a pretty fun mesh of old school and new school GTA gameplay. The fact it's one of the few interesting Nintendo DS games that isn't an RPG is also a plus point.

Age of Booty Sets Sail for PlayStation Network Today

50°
306w ago - Capcom's John Diamonon shared the following today via PS Blog:

Hey PS Fam! Long time no blog. It's my pleasure to announce that Age of Booty will finally become available today on the PSN for only $9.99. I know there was a delay bringing this title to you, but we had to make sure we fixed all the bugs before we deliver one of the most original digital games on this platform.

Anyway, Max Hoberman, the President of Certain Affinity and the developer of Age of Booty, wanted to give you some insights into this critically acclaimed game. He'll also answer any questions you have about the game. Without further ado, heeeere's Max!

This is a follow-up to my previous post, where I described the genesis of our upcoming downloadable pirate action RTS, Age of Booty. I left off with us signing a publishing deal with Capcom and beginning production. That was a year ago, and since then we've had a lot of time to improve upon the original design.

At this point you might be wondering what exactly Age of Booty is all about. In my last post I touched on the game's unique combination of simple, intuitive controls and mechanics and strategic depth. But that was all pretty high-level, so let's dive a bit deeper.

In Age of Booty you are the captain of a pirate ship, a...

Uncharted Waters Setting Sail on PlayStation 3 Next Year

50°
311w ago - Update: The PS3 version will feature enhanced visuals and a new interface. Now it appears that the game might use the same servers, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Koei's PC title Uncharted Waters will be sailing swiftly onto PS3 in 2009.

Not to be confused with the similarly named jungle-romp Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, in Uncharted Waters Online, you take on the role of a character from one of Europe's seafaring nations including Portugal, Spain, England, and more.

From your base in Lisbon, Seville, London, or another of the headquarter cities, you may choose the path of the adventurer, the merchant, or the soldier and make your fortune on the seas.

When it launches, the game will be hosted on the same servers as the PC iteration. We'll have more for you on Uncharted Waters soon.

Square-Enix Set to Underwhelm PS3 Owners at TGS 2008

200°
311w ago - Square-Enix dropped a bomb at E3 this year when they announced Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360, but can we expect any blockbuster unveilings at the Tokyo Game Show this week?

Well, before the hype and anticipation starts, we'd like to say: nah.

Final Fantasy Union recently ran an article about what to expect, and as far as we can see, we'll have to look elsewhere for any super big announcements. While Square-Enix is bringing 25 titles to the show, only 6 of them have anything to do with the revered Final Fantasy franchise, and only 9 of the total 25 games on display will be playable.

One bit of good news is that this includes the upcoming Dissidia: Final Fantasy for the PSP, so handheld fans should be anticipating some new gameplay footage.

But beyond that, we likely won't see much in the way of new details or information concerning either Final Fantasy XIII or the still-PS3-exclusive, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. We also don't expect any new titles to be revealed, and to be brutally frank, this isn't what we wanted from Square-Enix at TGS 2008. Sure, PSP owners might be satisfied with Dissidia and Final Fantasy Agito XIII, but PS3 owners are going to be disappointed. Again.

So far in this generation, we've noticed a growing trend: PS3 fans haven't been happy with...

Dragon Quest IX Set for a March 2009 Release in Japan

50°
312w ago - Square Enix have announced that Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Sky will be released on March 29 in Japan.

The game, which has been dubbed "Japan's biggest title for 2009", will be shown at this years TGS but won't be playable. Pricing has yet to be set.

To quote: DQIX has endured somewhat of a rocky path before arriving at this final release time frame. The game was originally announced back in late 2006 as being due for a 2007 release. That was later pushed to 2008 as the game saw some changes to its battle system from the originally announced action-oriented system to classic-style menus.

Recently, in interviews with the mainstream media, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada said that a Dragon Quest game would make it out around the new year. He was either misquoted, or he was referring to another Dragon Quest game (or, just maybe, Square Enix celebrates New Years in March).

DQIX will make it to the Tokyo Game Show this year, but only in non-playable form. Square Enix will hold a stage show for the game, sharing the first details following a long period of silence.
