inFamous PS3 Facts, Figures & PlayStation Home Space Coming

Ever wonder what goes into the making of a video game? Here are some fun facts regarding the development of their super-hero exclusive, inFAMOUS. We thought we'd go ahead and share a few of our favorites from the issue and also the development team with you!

• In addition to the kitchen espresso, the inFAMOUS team traveled to Starbucks approximately 18,200 times. Two groups of 10 people per day, five days a week.

• There were 10 inFAMOUS babies born during development. One employee had two during that time.





• It took over 70,000 separate art, code and media check-in submissions to make inFAMOUS.

• The inFAMOUS team consumed 17,472 cans of diet Coke and 13,104 cans of diet Pepsi during development.

• There were no less than 14 high rise buildings constructed within 3 blocks of Sucker Punch's offices during the inFAMOUS development cycle.

Here are a few more fun facts about inFAMOUS worth mentioning...

• inFAMOUS is the fastest demo to reach the 1 million milestone on the PlayStation Network.
 

Qore Episode 13: inFAMOUS, Fight Night Round 4 and Frag Dolls

274w ago - PlayStation Network Executive Producer Kevin Furuichi has detailed the Qore Episode 13 features and shared a preview video today.

To quote: As we mentioned in an e-mail to subscribers, we experienced a delay in releasing the final version of Episode 13 and apologize for the inconvenience.

This month marks a milestone for Qore–its first birthday! When the PlayStation Network launched the show a year ago, we were very excited about the opportunity to give gamers a unique glimpse into the world of PlayStation.

We want to thank everyone for their support during this fast and furious year for PlayStation Network's first original production.

Almost inFAMOUS
In Episode 11, we saw how the unique music of inFAMOUS was created. This time, we head to Seattle to visit Sucker Punch, developers of the Sly Cooper franchise, to witness the fascinating way they've created "karma" in their electrifying PS3 debut. We also utilize their development rig to capture the amazing particle effects of the game in super slo-mo.

Best Buy inFamous PS3 Sale: Only $29.99 on June 30 to July 2!

275w ago - Update: It looks like this deal is only going to be running in Canada, but hopefully Best Buy will run a similar deal in the United States.

Word is that one of the biggest electronic retail stores will be selling inFAMOUS at a reduced price of $29.99 for a short period of time real soon... to quote:

Well, I have received word that Best Buy will be selling it for only $29.99 June 30 to July 2, so if you have not picked up your copy yet, I would wait until then to get it half off.

InFamous Becomes Fastest Selling New Exclusive IP on PS3

• InFamous (May, 2009) - 176K first week
• Resistance (Nov., 2006) - 42K first week
• Motorstorm (March, 2007) - 107K first week
• Warhawk (August, 2007) - 70K first week
• Lair (August, 2007) - 69K first week
• Heavenly Sword (Sept., 2007) - 75K first week
• Uncharted (Nov., 2007) - 32K first week
• Haze (May, 2008) - 91K first week
• LittleBigPlanet (October, 2008) - 110K first week

To quote: Of course, established IPs have sold quite a bit more in their first week. Metal Gear Solid 4 sold upwards of 400,000 units, while established first party IPs such as Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 both sold close to 300,000 units in their debut.
 

Get a Custom inFAMOUS PS3 Poster from 7-Eleven Stores

To quote: We're electrifying 7-Eleven stores this month with an inFAMOUS promotion. If you pick up a copy of inFAMOUS and a PlayStation Network giftcard at 7-Eleven, you'll recieve this poster (below) custom designed by Destroy & Rebuild exclusively for inFAMOUS and featured in-game.

Destroy and Rebuild is a Brooklyn based collective centered around four graffiti artists instrumental in inspiring the current generation of street artists. At the heart of the collective is legendary graffiti artist, Mike "2ESAE" Bacca, who was featuring in 2008's groundbreaking documentary, Bomb It.
