Sony: The momentum of PS3 is not behind compared to PS2

50°
361w ago - Sony CEO Howard Stringer has suggested that the momentum of the PS3 going into the Christmas period is the same as it was with the Playstation 2. Stringer commented that it takes time to build a new format and the PS3 is not behind the PS2 in terms of its momentum curve.

To quote: "The momentum shift and the energy behind PS3 in time for Christmas is extremely fortuitous," he said. "It was planned by the PlayStation group, but I think this momentum now -- particularly the number of games coming out, including our own as well as third-party -- is the same as it was with PlayStation 2."

Noting that "it takes time to build a new format," Stringer insisted that PS3 is "not behind the curve compared to PlayStation 2 in terms of momentum. The amount of bandwidth and the processing power of Cell give game manufacturers a lot more work to do to use this system to its full benefit -- and it's taken awhile to do it. The same was true of PlayStation 2."

He said Sony was waiting for the $399 price tag "to see if, indeed, the loyal PlayStation customers -- and there are 200 million of them who have PS2 -- (would) kick in, and clearly the value proposition has sent the message."

Shameful Blu-ray Porn Promoted with PS3

50°
361w ago - It's not only in format wars that shameful movies matter, but also console sales. In the basement adults-only section of Akihabara retailer AsoBitCity, the in-store display promoted the 40GB model and pointed out that it can play naughty high-def flicks. The sign says:

Blue-ray adult movies, definitely enjoy them on the new PS3.

Because there's nothing like seeing mosaics in HD! :P

Ubisoft reveals Rainbow Six Vegas 2

361w ago - Second game coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in March next year

Ubisoft has revealed a sequel to last year's Rainbow Six outing in Sin City, Rainbow Six Vegas 2.

The sequel (yes, it's still set in Las Vegas) will be hitting PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in March 2008, with a new single-player campaign and "some surprises" left over for versus and co-op modes. Other than that, Ubisoft is reluctant to reveal any more about the sequel.

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas has been the effect of a bomb in the world of video gaming in 2006, by introducing in one fell swoop technological advance and innovation in terms gameplay," said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, in a French press release we translated on Google.

"We are confident that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 will also pioneer in the field of highly competitive shooters and delight fans of the Rainbow Six brand."

The sequel will again be developed by Ubisoft Montreal. We're sure Clancy fans will be delighted, but we'll wait and see how much the second game has to offer before we get excited.

Dusty PS3 kid who was present on Fox News is a paid pro actor

50°
361w ago - Ok, OK, I hate to stir the 'PS3 conspiracy' pot, but I thought people would be interested in this.

Redi Godshaw, the kid with the unusually dusty PS3, is a professional actor and has been paid to act on FOX shows before.

He goes on FOX news, with a horrendously dusty PS3, and it is never mentioned either that A.) He is a professional actor, or B.) His PS3 was far beyond normal levels of 'dusty'.

It just seems to me that FOX didn't provide 'fair and balanced' views of a problem with a foreign electronics manufacturer. Any thoughts?
