Rock Band users discovering hardware issues?

50°
361w ago - While we're still quite early in the game (literally), reports have started trickling in that there may be some substantial issues with some of the hardware included in Harmonix's latest and greatest, Rock Band. According to forum posts from disgruntled users, folks who've just gotten the game are having a litany of problems, from drums with no sensitivity, an always-on whammy, and sticky buttons -- but most of the stress seems to be related to the downstrum.

Current descriptions paint the problem as an overly- or ineffectual strum, resulting in a pretty annoying game experience. Of course, it's early on right now, and it's too soon to know if this is a widespread problem or if it's relegated to a small production batch. We pose this question to our readers: are you having Rock Band issues?

Dual Shock 3 dissected - First photos

100°
361w ago - Officially announced at this year's Tokyo Game show and due to hit the west next spring, Sony's long hoped-for rumble-enabled Sixaxis controller for the PlayStation 3 is now available in Japan. We've found some pictures on a Japanese Web site which show off both an exposed view of the controller's insides as well as the rumble effect of the motors. Click through for those latter ones.

As expected it's a similar twin-motor set-up to the previous Dual Shock 2, Sony having turned down Immersion's newer, more streamlined technology. Also on show is the ceramic white edition of the controller, which you can find on the third page. It's a sleek and sexy little thing indeed, but we can't help thinking that the black buttons kind of kill the effect.

The controllers are currently available from Playasia.com, but sadly the site isn't exporting to Europe. Fear of a similar legal whupping from SCEE to the one which saw Lik-Sang.com shut down for exporting PSPs to the region? We'd bet on it.
