Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 PS3 Trophy Glitch Discovered

500°
255w ago - It appears a PS3 Trophy glitch has been discovered on the recently released Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for PS3.

Those who utilize this PS3 hack can accumulate PS3 Trophies without even playing the game simply by watching another user play through the game's menu.

To quote from Examiner.com (linked above): "A glitch has been discovered in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 where players can earn trophies without even playing the game.

By watching a replay of another person's play through in the game's menu, the onlooker will get any trophies unlocked from the footage.

A similar glitch was previously discovered in Ninja Gaiden II on the Xbox 360."

Here is to hoping that Tecmo can patch the trophy glitch before the exploitation becomes widespread.

Video: PS3 Slim Laptop - Amazing PS3 Mod By Ben Heck

550°
256w ago - Ben Heck has outdone himself with the minimal clean design of his latest gaming mod- a PS3 Slim Laptop mod!

This laptop sees Sony's PS3 Slim stuffed into a monochromatic chassis with 17-inch Gateway 1775w LCD throwing a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
There's even space inside to tuck away the power cord when traveling.

The pinstriped result is nothing short of elegant, sporty even, especially when compared to his PS3 laptop from 2008.

Check out a video of it below!

PS3 JIG Pictures Surface, PlayStation 3 Service Mode Tests Begin

850°
257w ago - Recently Dutch user Sinnerman has leaked some new PS3 JIG pictures on the QJ.net (linked above) forums, and has revealed that PlayStation 3 Service Mode testing is underway with SKFU.

The application pictured below is used to create registry files required to finalize the PlayStation 3 JIG (SVC-H3A606SS) process, which must contain a valid e-mail address as they are authenticated with the SCEI server.

While we await the test results (and hopefully some PS3 JIG internal pictures), some related articles on both Sony's elusive PS3 JIG and PS3 Service Mode are as follows for those who may have missed them: PlayStation 3 Service Mode JIG Set-Up Files Leaked, Some PlayStation 3 Service Mode Details and finally PS3 Controller EEPROM Dumped And Service Mode Information.

Finally, the big question.. what if PS3 Retail consoles could be converted to PS3 Debug consoles through the PS3 JIG? Well, depending on the post-modification differences...

Guide: Three Ways of Running Your Own Code on PS3

650°
259w ago - Today SKFU has posted a brief guide on three way to run your own code on Sony's PS3 console, as follows:

1. OtherOS

The easiest way to run your own code on the PlayStation 3 is through Linux which you can install as alternative OS. Several restrictions regarding the RSX, but it seems to become better regarding 3D acceleration since the new MESA 3D GL was released with CELL support.

2. BD-Java

A few days ago I reported, that the developers of demonhades.org found out, that BD-Java still works if you correctly burn it on a Blu-Ray disc. With the FreePlay's minimal BD-Java SDK it's quite ok to develop Java for PS3.

3. Flash

Since FW 2.0 till FW 3.0 there was the so called Informationboard. This is a simple .swf file on the HDD and can be replaced with knightsolidus' HDD decryption method. As the informationboard.swf does not run in a sandbox there's a lot possible but sadly it was removed in the actual FW 3.0.

PS3 Slim is Now Available in Custom Colors by ColorWare

550°
259w ago - This is the first PlayStation 3 Slim case mod I've seen... for $149 you can customize the look of your current PS3 Slim, or get a new PlayStation 3 Slim already customized starting at $449 from ColorWare.

Using their [Register or Login to view links] interface it allows you to change the color of the PS3 Slim's top, bottom, logo and controllers to see what it will look like in different color combinations. Cool stuff!

To quote: "They have pulled out all the stops to not only colorize the console but the controller as well. You can customize the color of the PS3 logo, the top of the console, or the bottom.

Basically you can turn your PS3 Slim into a technicolor dreamcoat if you wanted. ColorWare would have it no other way. Once colorized, everything is high-gloss and scratch resistant. It's better than a paint job on your car!"
