Rainbow Six Vegas 2 trailer is here to disappoint

50°
355w ago - I enjoyed Rainbow Six Vegas, so I was excited when the sequel was announced. Vegas is just such a bright and vibrant backdrop for a shooter, and the tactical gameplay fit great with the city.

Now, thanks to the Spike Video Game Awards, there's a trailer for Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (embedded below).

Unfortunately, it doesn't show a whole lot that actually pertains to the game it is supposed to be showing. It starts out with live-action, talking about what Vegas is, and there's some scantily clad women thrown in to keep your attention while you wait for something interesting to happen.

Sure, there's nothing wrong with throwing some boobs in game trailers (I actually recommend it), but all the live-action stuff isn't necessary and I was hoping for more game footage.

Finally at the end they show more than just actors and close up shots of cards and chips, but it is brief and really doesn't show much. The far too cliche announcer doesn't help, and it comes off more like a cheesy Hollywood movie preview. It wasn't too bad, but I was hoping for much more and it doesn't really help hype the game up. Hopefully they release another trailer soon, but with lots of gameplay and action instead of what this trailer had....

Warhawk: Take Three

50°
355w ago - Nearly a month ago CJPC posted a Warhawk: Take Two PS3 Dev article.. since then a lot has happened, but due to finals and the holidays most of the resident Devs are too busy to update the news with their progress.

Recently ggparallel has shared the following for those interested- to quote:

Warhawk, is a game for PS3 GAMEOS. The retail version on Blue-ray allows you to send pkg via fake Web server via patches.

Howto under MAC OS:

Create a script that binds the various IPs of Sony Web server for example in MACOSX:

warhawk-start-interface.sh
#!/bin/bash
# where en0 is the interface you make the Web server listen
int="en0"
echo echo starting en0 aliases for PS3 networks
echo echo adding Warhawk http server port 80
/sbin/ifconfig $int inet 87.248.216.24 netmask 255.255.255.255
alias /sbin/ifconfig $int inet 87.248.217.171 netmask 255.255.255.255 alias

warhawk-stop-interface.sh
#!/bin/bash
# where en0 is the interface you make the Web server listen
int="en0"
echo echo removing en0 aliases for PS3 networks
echo echo removing Warhawk http server port 80
/sbin/ifconfig...

Upcoming Week of Games: December 9 - December 15

355w ago - As is standard for december, this week is a crappy release week. However, the PS3's big releases of Orange Box and Unreal Tournament 3 make it worthwhile to make a list, even if there isn't much on other platforms.

Nintendo DS (nothing notable)

Nintendo Wii (2 games)
Indianapolis 500 Legends (Friday December 14)
Super Swing Golf Season 2 (Tuesday December 11)

X-Box 360 (1 game)
NCAA March Madness 08 (Tuesday December 11)

Sony PSP (nothing notable)

Playstation 2 (1 game)
NCAA March Madness 08 (Tuesday December 11)

Playstation 3 (4 games)
Blacksite: Area 51 (Monday December 10)
The Orange Box (Tuesday December 11)
NCAA March Madness 08 (Tuesday December 11)
Unreal Tournament 3 (Tuesday December 11)

Keep in mind that every date listed above is the ship date. Check the stores a day or two after the date listed above. These are also not every game being released this week. These are just the ones I deemed notable.

Pics of the game box for each game can be seen at the link at the top!

New Aibo PS3, PSP Compatible?

50°
355w ago - It looks like Ash may have been right. Stuff magazine is running a rumor item on the possibility of an upcoming Aibo, the robotic dog, working with the Playstation Portable and Playstation 3. The rumor goes that the Sony Aibo PS, as they call it, is being resuscitated by Sony's Playstation division in an attempt to "bolster the PS3's arsenal."

The Aibo PS will appear with its own avatar within Home and react in the real world as he does in the PS3's upcoming interactive environment, according to the article. The rumor article goes on to say that you will be able to download new personalities for the dog from the Playstation Network and that the dog will be fully controllable using a PSP via WiFi. The dog's head camera will send a real world vid feed to the PSP's screen as well. The Dpad will control walking movement and the four main buttons will deal with head movement, which seems odd.

The Stuff folks rate this rumor as having a 53 percent probability. Seems like a cool concept, but I wonder if there's the market for it to hit the real world. Who am I kidding? A remote control dog that can send live video from its head, sign me up for a baker's dozen.
