353w ago - Start your engines and stop your drooling, the full game intro for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is finally here.

You can keep your Need for Speeds, Project Gotham Racings and your Colin McRae: DiRTs, there's really only one grandaddy of gaming when it comes to the racing circuit: Gran Turismo.

Regardless of your particular hardware affiliation, this baby is gonna be huge, deal with it. Check out the complete game intro for Gran Turismo 5: Prologue by clicking below. There's little vrooom for improvement on show here!

FF Versus XIII to be Mature Rated

50°
353w ago - As many of us noticed, at one point in the new Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer, the Prince impales one particular soldier with one of his many weapons. This is no new thing to Final Fantasy, but the effect you are all now thinking of is, blood and gore. Click on the screen shots below to see the exact moment in the trailer.

Minor blood has been in Final Fantasy's in the past, like on Sephiroth's face at the end of FFVII and the tiny patch of blood on Cloud's shirt after being stabbed by Sephiroth in FFVII: Advent Children. Those fall under the ESRB Teen Rating for "containing minimal blood" (Click here for the ESRB ratings guide). What is seen in the Versus trailer is in no stretch of the imagination "minimal blood", but easily fits into the ESRB Mature Rating's "contain intense violence, blood and gore" category.

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the first Final Fantasy game to receive a Mature Rating if changes are not made. This may come as a surprise as the creators of Versus are also the team behind Kingdom Hearts, which has only gone as high as an E10+ Rating.

Note, this is not confirmation of a Mature Rating. Although, if the final retail version of Versus still contains this amount of blood and gore it will be.

Killzone 2 - Beta, Vehicles & Aliens?

50°
353w ago - Usually we take rumors lightly, but this one supposedly came from the Official PlayStation Magazine(UK?). A forum member at Killzone.com claims to have gotten his hands on the latest OPM- issue number 14 which contains some interesting snippets regarding Killzone 2.

• Killzone 2 also promises the inclusion of player-controlled vehicles
• Public beta test in mid `08
•"We asked deJonge to tell us a secret, "As you know, they [Helghast] are not the only inhabitants." He won't be drawn on whether those 'other' alien inhabitants are friendly or not.

This isn't from the North American OPM publication, as we've already gotten our hands on the latest issue. We want to know more and we'll let you know if there's any truth to this as soon as possible. Stay Tuned!

Connect the PS3 to Your Phone, Starting Next Year

50°
353w ago - Seems that Sony's not only trying to compete with Xbox Live and Nintendo's similar services, but also with Apple's iTunes. The news of the day is that the PS3 will be able to hook up to your cellphone and you surely know that this is just another reason for those PSP Phone rumors to resurface. We're already loving the Remote Play functionality featured on the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3 and we guess that it can be expanded in order to allow the next-gen gaming device to connect to many other gadgets.

Linking a PS3 to a mobile phone means hardcore media streaming and maybe a chance to take screenshots and capture videos from the games you play, plus some neat content management of your saves and files. We'll see this new feature being launched by April 2008, probably with the aid of a brand new firmware. I'm curios to see if the connectivity option is only available for Sony's phones, or we'll be able to hook up iPhones to our beloved consoles.

Can you read into the future and really figure out what such a feature means? Here's a couple of high-tech lucky guesses (even reaching sci-fi levels at times):

* We'll play games using our Sony Ericsson phones as joysticks, maybe even taking advantage of their vibration function and accelerometer

* In case you're hooking up a...

Sony to release new entertainment system? PS3.5 in the works?

50°
353w ago - A new trademark protection application filed by Sony reveals they might have something revolutionary up their well-guarded sleeves. With on demand video and PlayStation Home just around the corner, you'd think that they had gadget convergence well and truly covered, but it seems that isn't so. As reported by trademark watchers Trademork, the massive electronics company has applied to protect a mysterious new television and home entertainment system, under the name Mezone.

The December 5th filing covers a quite staggering array of Sony services, including "Computer hardware, set top boxes, remote controls, and computer software and peripherals, namely audio and video receivers and transmitters and computer software programs enabling receipt, download, playing, personalized and interactive viewing, and rental of audio and video programming through the use of internet connections to computer hardware, receiver and transmitter apparatuses that connect to a television set or monitor, computer software for use in database management; computer software for uploading, manipulating, and enhancing digital content, documents, photographs, images, video, and audio; computer software for linking metadata tags with photographic and other media files to enable search engine retrieval and database software collections of files and their...
