Warhawk Importers Shafted on Downloadable Content?

50°
345w ago - Many Europeans were impatient and imported Warhawk from the US. In fact my brother picked up Warhawk from the US and it works perfectly on my PAL Playstation 3, but we might now be shafted with region coding.

In a reply to the question "Will the downloadable content be region coded?"on the Official Playstation Blog, Dylan Jobe of Incognito responded with:

More or less yes...it's not based on hardware region code, but based on the region where you purchased the game Warhawk. USA, Europe, Japan, etc.

This presumably means that Warhawk importers need to buy the US Omega Dawn Pack, which isn't possible since foreigners can't buy content from the US Playstation Store.

There may be a get around, since there is an online Warhawk store which will prompt you to buy the pack. The store might recognise that you have a US copy of Warhawk and thus forward the US pack to you. However, this would make the region-coding slightly pointless.

I for one am not willing to buy the pack with my hard earned monies to discover if this does indeed work, even though the pack appears to be up early. I should have grabbed it when it was free. :P

Rockstar: 'No New GTA IV 360 Exclusive Content'

50°
345w ago - Contrary to widespread reports, Rockstar has told Next-Gen that there has been no announcement regarding additional exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV content for Microsoft's Xbox 360.

Reports of newly announced Xbox 360-bound Grand Theft Auto IV episodic content spread following Tuesday's Take-Two fourth quarter results conference call, in which company executives noted that exclusive GTA IV episodic content would be making its way to Xbox 360 in fiscal year 2009. While a number of publications have reported that the comments meant that previously unannounced content had been revealed, Rockstar has moved to clear up the speculation.

A Rockstar rep told Next-Gen Wednesday that the content in question is merely the second of the two previously announced pieces of episodic content making their way to Xbox 360. While both pieces of episodic content were initially scheduled to hit Xbox 360 in Take-Two's fiscal 2008, the second piece of content will now be available in fiscal 2009, a delay presumably brought about by the later than expected release of the highly anticipated title, which slipped from a planned 2007 debut to a 2008 fiscal second quarter (February 1 - April 30) release.

Although unconfirmed, it has been widely reported that Microsoft forked out $50 million in advance to secure the...

New Folding@Home features coming

50°
345w ago - The Official PlayStation blog has posted up that new features in the Folding@Home project. There is an auto sleep function, a background music player and a few minor features that will help you to maximize your contribution to the project.

To quote: What's a better Holiday addition to Folding than playing music? We've added a great feature in this version in the form of a background music player:

- To activate the music player select Music and then a channel. The channels are automatically populated with songs you have stored on your Hard Disk Drive! For holiday music I prefer to choose Dramatic (yeah!) and voila - music is playing.

- If you wish to skip to another track, just use a combination of X + left or right arrow. You can also change the channel by choosing X + up or down arrow. Happy listening!

- To stop music from playing, select Music again from the main menu and choose "disable." Your music playback selection will be saved between consecutive runs of Folding@home.
