319w ago - A UK-based company called StreamMyGame.com makes software that is able to convert your PC game into an IP game stream which can be shared over the Web and played remotely on a range of devices.
They say it turns PC games into an IP "game stream", which they claim: "enables users to post hypertext links to their games on the site, which can then be played remotely by other visitors to site who click on the links." Right now it only works with PC games running remotely through XP or Vista. The company says they will release a "a Linux version in Q4 2007 which will enable PC games to be played on the PlayStation 3."
To quote from the article: "We are embarking on a new paradigm in the gaming industry fuelled by advances in computer hardware, network speeds and the want of gamers to have more freedom," said Richard Faria CEO of StreamMyGame. "We network the power of their main PC so it can be used to play high end games on other PCs and laptops around the home. I believe the demand for high resolutions will drive the sales of high end PC hardware".
"We will release a Linux version in Q4 2007 which will enable PC games to be played on the PlayStation 3 and many other devices including DVD players, set top boxes, networked media devices and mobile phones," he said.
319w ago - In the latest Disney commercials for newly released Disney Blu-ray movies and games Disney is giving the PS3 some added promotion stating that the product "Plays on Blu-ray players and PlayStation 3."
This is great news for Sony and it appears that Disney and Sony have some sort of partnership which has made this type of advertisement a reality.
Apparetly Disney wants to push the Blu-ray format and has chosen it as their format of choice to release all of their key titles on such as the newly released Meet the Robinsons which we reviewed here right on PCN earlier in the week
It is very smart for Disney to take this approach because if they push the PS3 and it sells more units, that will mean that more people will have Blu-ray players and likely buy more copies of their films in the future

319w ago - An informed UK reader sends word of the Playstation 3's 2.0 firmware release, which he says is supposed to hit on Oct. 30. While the source appears to be genuine, I am a little doubtful of the timing since 1.94 seems to be just hitting now with copies of Ratchet and Clank, so take this, as you should all rumors, with a grain of salt.
Chief among the updates is the inclusion of cross media bar customization, a separate Playstation Network category, music and photo playlists and the ability to turn your PS3 on and off with PSP Remote Play. Hit the jump for the full break down of what we're told will be coming in this rather robust update.
