246w ago - This is a few months old, but it's just now making its rounds so here we go!
The PlayStation 3 Yellow Light of Death (YLOD) is a general error and can be one of many things.. Users have reported receiving a PS3 YLOD in the following ways, to name a few:
• Trying to install a game onto the HDD, harddrive failure YLOD.
• Power surge can be a possible cause of the YLOD.
• If the inside of your PS3 is very dusty it can cause a YLOD.
Obtaining a security driver and replacing the PS3 thermal paste with a high quality paste like arctic silver is one remedy. This fix has worked for a huge amount of people, albeit it is only .3% of all PS3 owners. If you are a 60 or 20GB owner you may also want to change the paste for the emotion chip as well.
262w ago - Warning: Changing your PSN email or password via the PS3's XMB account management tool will corrupt your save files! Sadly, PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.53 does NOT resolve this issue.
There is a large thread (linked above) over at the PlayStation forums regarding error 80022d11 (save file created by another user).
Once this occurs, trying to load a save file for a game that supports trophies will give you the option to either start over (wipe the save file) or sync trophies (which fails). At this point trophies will no longer work and save game files for any game that supports trophies will no longer load.
The only work around at this point is to delete your PS3 user account (not to be confused with your PSN user account) and create a new one (which you can link to your existing PSN account).
Once this is done your trophies will sync, but you will lose all your saved games. If you try to restore any saved games you made before doing this, the error will occur again.
The problem appears to be triggered if the user changes his/her email address or password using the XMB account management tools. So until Sony fixes this problem, users should not change their...
269w ago - Just over a week ago, we reported on the BioShock Demo's Texture issues.
Today, 2K Elizabeth (2K Community Manager) has reported that the 2K Development Team is working on a patch for BioShock on the PS3 which should fix all of the visual problems.
For now, she confirmed that two fixes are included relating to the Big Daddy Bouncer and Elite Bouncer Textures Appeared Pixelated and White Bars.
To quote: Hey guys,
I have good news from the dev team about a patch for BioShock PS3! They have been working on a patch to address the concerns some of you on the forum have talked about. As work is in progress I do not have a definite date for when this patch will be released as it needs to be tested and clear certification with Sony before it is scheduled and released. I do know this will not be until after the game's launch, and I will update you with details on that date as I receive them.
I'll be releasing the entire patch list when it's all finalized, but for now I'm sure you'll be happy to see that these two fixes are included.

291w ago - According to a poster named intimidtr3 on the US PlayStation Boards, 2K games Tech Support have said that Sony are looking into producing a new firmware just for the earlier version of the PS3 to fix the GTA IV issues.
To quote: Hello Xxxxx,
There is an issue with the launch edition of the PS3 and this game, the game was checked over and passed as 100% compatible with the current version of the PS3, of course the earlier version has custom chips which mean that it is a very different animal from the current PS3 on sale.
Sony are aware of this difference and are looking into producing a new firmware just for the earlier version of the PS3.
