Will LittleBigPlanet humilate the Xbox Live system?

100°
297w ago - Chris Stead of Gameplayer has tried to evaluate whether LittleBigPlanet has the ability to literally piss all over Xbox Live and it seems as if he thinks it certainly has the potential to do so.

Stead believes the game will challenge MS's views on user generated content and is the first wave of an onslaught of user-driven experience. He concludes "Indeed, if LittleBigPlanet fulfils its potential, appealing to mainstream and gamer alike, then it could very well force Microsoft's hand by humiliating the revered Xbox Live system."

To quote: As it stands, LittleBigPlanet is set to embarrass Xbox Live and really challenge Microsoft's views on user-generated content. The game has a tremendous amount of hype and having played it for hours now, that hype is certainly warranted.

It'll be a trendsetter for sure, and a host of LittleBigPlanet clones will surely appear down the track, all of which will seemingly need to head to the PS3. And LittleBigPlanet is just the first wave in an onslaught of user-driven experiences, including such big hitters as Guitar Hero: World Tour and Spore.

Indeed, if LittleBigPlanet fulfils its potential, appealing to mainstream and gamer alike, then it could very well force Microsoft's hand by humiliating the revered Xbox Live system.

Hackers taking over latest Mario Kart Wii tournament

50°
298w ago - The newest Mario Kart Wii tournament went live a few days ago, but unfortunately, some participants took it upon themselves to hack their way to the top. Two racers have submitted ludicrous times - 0.004 and 0.609 seconds.

Immediately upon looking at these results, one would quickly surmise that the results would not have been able to have been achieved through ethical means. Also, one of the hackers has gone so far as to dawn the name "ihack@you."

This is not the first time the Mario Kart Wii online system has been hacked. Previously, people began to exploit the Time Trials system to earn impossible times.

Nintendo was able to root out and take care of cheaters, so it is expected that Nintendo will take similar action with this latest issue.

Latest Nintendo Wii D2E drive unlocked already!

50°
303w ago - The folks at Wasabi have confirmed that their method already works on the newly released "D2E" drives found in the latest Nintendo Wii consoles.

After dumping the firmware, they found the D2E firmware was created on 12th February 2008 while the Diagrams for Wasabi were released on 19th February - Wii and GC backups are also confirmed to be running.

To quote: Did you hear about the new D2E drive? We've only got a couple of reports of those drives seen in the wild so you don't need to worry about them yet, but they have been spotted at different places. They are the successors of D2C2 drives and the the curious may be wondering if this new drive is a reaction to Wasabi's 9-wire patching method.

There's one way to know for sure, that is dumping the firmware and look at the build date to see if it was created before or after Wasabi diagrams (below).

So D2E firmware was created on the 12th of February 2008. Wasabi diagrams were released on the 19th of February... Do we really need to say more?

Update: Wii and GC backups are now running
