Top Gun for PS3 Detailed, Coming Soon on PlayStation Store

50°
207w ago - DoubleSix Senior Games Designer Ollie Barder has expanded on Top Gun PS3 details today, and stated it is coming soon to Sony's PlayStation Store.

To quote: Hello again! Since I spoke here last, the studio has been really busy with Top Gun - a new air combat game for the PlayStation Network based on the classic 80's film.

Needless to say it's been a lot of fun making this, as screeching across a blue sky in a F-14 Tomcat never gets old.

For those curious as to how we've tackled the game we went down a more arcade focused route for air combat, more so than other games in the genre. So instead of having to micromanage finite ammunition, stalling and the vagaries of an overly complex flight model, we've streamlined all that down and removed as many restrictions as we possibly could.

The reasoning behind this was so that the player would be able to focus on just enjoying the combat and shooting down planes with either guns or missiles. This means things like your health replenishes over time and your guns won't ever overheat. We wanted to give people the freedom to fly through a blue sky and basically get to feel...

216w ago - Today Krome Studios Producer Heidi Stapleton has detailed both levels and combat for Blade Kitten on the PS3 entertainment system, and confirmed that it will indeed be hitting PSN soon.

To quote: You may already be aware that the [Register or Login to view links] universe existed long before the game's development team came together. In fact, the game's creator and director Steve Stamatiadis (aka "Space Captain" Steve) started the [Register or Login to view links] in 2001.

It was the job of Steve and the team to elaborate on what existed in the comics, using them as a blueprint of sorts, and to translate them into environments that looked visually spectacular and made clever use of the movement system while supporting the storyline.

LEVELS

Blade Kitten is not only our first side-scrolling game, it's also our first title intended specifically for download. One of the hurdles we had to overcome, due in part to the need to adapt to a new level-building pipeline, was that our levels kept getting built larger than we originally scoped.

The levels in Blade Kitten range from claustrophobic sewer-like tunnels, to brightly-lit grassy plains that extend far off into the distance. There's...

If you're a true racing fan, you know that [Register or Login to view links] is a world-renowned racing complex in Nürburg, Germany.

It's home of various world-famous races including the [Register or Login to view links], and used as a testing ground for bleeding-edge performance cars by companies like GM, Dodge, Nissan, Lexus, and Ferrari.

In the words of Mr. GT, [Register or Login to view links] himself, "For a car enthusiast, the Nürburgring is the equivalent to what places like the "Eiger Nordwand" or "Mount Everest" means to a mountaineer. There is that special allure about it that you just can't explain in words."

Nürburgring is definitely a favorite...

222w ago - SCEA PR Manager Eric Levine has detailed their MLB 10 The Show PS3 NL East predictions today alongside a video, as follows:

Next up on our divisional predictions series is the [Register or Login to view links].

The [Register or Login to view links] might be the best team in the NL, if not all of baseball, and are the clear front runner.

The fact that they added an all-world pitcher in [Register or Login to view links] to a World Series squad will make it tough for them not to grab their fourth straight divisional crown. The [Register or Login to view links] always seem to have a good core of young players and with guys like [Register or Login to view links] and [Register or Login to view links], this year is no different so expect them to contend.

The [Register or Login to view links] have the clear cut Rookie of the Year in [Register or Login to view links], but we'll see if this mix of young talent and their usual veterans...
