Neko Announces Puddle Splashes on to PlayStation Vita Next Week

100°
113w ago - Neko Entertainment QA Manager Sebastian Chipot has announced today that Puddle will be splashing on to PlayStation Vita next week with details below.

To quote: Hello, I'm Sebastien from Neko Entertainment. We came out with a game earlier this year called Puddle, and we're bringing it to PS Vita next week!

Puddle began as a project by six students of the video game school ENJMIN. It won a Student Showcase prize at the Independent Gaming Festival at GDC 2010, and was later picked up by Neko Entertainment. There, those same six students were able to turn it into a full-fledged game.

After we released the game on PS3, we worked hard to get a better handle on the game's mechanics, so we'd be able to deliver a new version of Puddle on PS Vita. We paid particular attention to feedback from PS3 players when working on the PS Vita version – which will have many exclusive features!

We made the game a bit easier (there's an option to "whine and skip" a level if it's proving too difficult), there are now tips on every loading screen, and menus have been changed to take advantage of the touch screen.

You can change the control setup (tilt the console, use the left stick, use L and R buttons, or even use the rear touch pad). We wanted to make sure you have...

Injustice for All: Ed Boon Shares Vision for DC Fighter

50°
114w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has interviewed Creative Director Ed Boon of NetherRealm Studios on DC Fighter today!

Below is the interview, to quote: During EVO 2012, I got a rare opportunity to chat with Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat and creative director for [Register or Login to view links].

Though NetherRealm Studios' latest title wasn't playable at the show, Boon walked me through his vision for the DC-themed fighter, his overall plans for NetherRealm Studios, and some key changes he's bringing to the fighting game formula.

PlayStation.Blog: It strikes me that Superman looks awfully aggressive in Injustice. His cape is torn, he looks upset. What's up with Supe?

Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios: We haven't released many details on the story... but I can say that it's very observant of you. Our Superman isn't quite the same Superman that you grew up with.

We definitely want to give a more contemporary, NetherRealms spin to the character, and he plays a big part in the story. People will definitely be surprised by this rendition of Superman. We'll be revealing more details with Comic-con, PAX, Gamescom, and so forth.

PSB: Superman, for me, has never...

PS Vita Dev Wololo Unveils VHBL Success with New PSP Game Exploit

1000°
114w ago - Today PlayStation Vita developer wololo has announced news of VHBL success using a new PSP game exploit courtesy of [Register or Login to view links] with details below.

To quote from his blog: Sometimes, it’s just that simple...

Neur0n has been kind enough to share with me the details of his latest user mode exploit, so that I could help porting VHBL to his game on the EU and US versions (yes, the game seems to be available on all stores, and don’t stop reading here, it gets better).

Sometimes porting VHBL to a new game can be a pain in the rear. Many times, as I discovered the hard way, we hit a wall and have to give up after dozens of hours of investigation.

On this exploit too, had I been alone working on it, I would have given up. It seemed impossible to free most of the ram (VHBL basically needs to cleanly remove the game from the ram, in order to load homebrews instead), and the exploit ended up with about 2MB of free ram, instead of the 24MB that we usually expect.

But hey, that’s where comes the joy of working with talented people like Neur0n: he figured out, within 24hours, how to free the additional 22MB. I am not sure really how he found out, and why it works, but it damn works.

So I can proudly...
