PS3 SAK Export And File Merger Plus v0.1.0.0 released!

50°
359w ago - Shortly following NZHawk's release, cyberfix has now shared HERE his own twist on a PS3 SAK merging utility... namely PS3 SAK Export And File Merger Plus v0.1.0.0!

Requirements:
Windows 2000 & XP (Vista?)
Microsoft .NET runtime v2.0
Unzip and run the executable

Prologue:
This program was inspired by the batch file that NZHawk wrote to combine SAK exported ISO images. After looking over the batch file, I noticed it was doing a binary combine at the DOS command level. NZHawk requested somebody convert it to VB, but I decided to do something similar in VC# since I have not coded in VB for some time.

Instructions:
The program is self explanatory. You choose the source directory with the BROWSE button. Then, it will show a list of files in that directory. Any files with the extension .A? will be selected automatically (these are the SAK export files). You can select or deselect any files...

[PS3NEWS] CoD4 Clan Tag Project!

200°
359w ago - As a means of expanding the site I though it would be a good idea if we set up a [PS3NEWS] CoD4 Clan Tag. This would raise awareness of the site online and increase the community spirit within the members of the site.

Members could flaunt their commitment to the site and we could set up Clan-based matches online. We could also set up a STICKY Forum thread with a list of [PS3NEWS] Clan members PSN IDs so that you can easily find friends who are part of it and add them to your friends list.

If anyone would be intrested in such a idea the please post in the Forum thread linked to this article (or HERE) with your PSN ID and if we get enough interest then it may be something we would consider in the near future.

PS3 SAK iSO Backup Merger utility released!

50°
359w ago - Update: NZHawk has already updated to PS3 SAK iSO Backup Merger Update 1, which now includes support for 50GB images(15 Blu-ray.a* Files) and fixes a slight bug in the code.

NZHawk has shared with us today PS3 SAK iSO Backup Merger, which according to his post HERE will merge up to (10) PS3 SAK v1.00 outputted files together and make an .iSO image.

To quote: I made this program to make the process easier for others.

Place the SAK EXPORT ISO file merger into the same folder as the Blu-ray.a* files, and type in the number of the 'Blu-ray.a*' files, then just press enter, type the name of the resulting .ISO and away you go! Fully automated.

Made in notepad, would like to port to VB, but dont know how... Any help would be appreciated.

WIP: Downgrade your PS3 version without previous dumps!

100°
359w ago - We announced this notice some time ago, now I would like to show you a picture of the tool I compiled to do the job. You need the Infectus mod-chip on your PS3 to downgrade. This mod-chip allows you to take a backup of your current PS3 Firmware that can be restored.

The news is that before it wasn't possible to downgrade without a previous dump of your own PS3 console's Firmware, but now things have changed.

Using this tool you can modify a NAND backup in order to let the console think it has a lower Firmware version, so later you can use an official Sony upgrade PUP file to "downgrade" to the version you need.

It has been tested to patch all PS3 Firmware dumps up to 2.10 so far, but is a work-in-progress as we still need to test re-updating more thoroughly.

I would like to thanks to Gigi and Mainman for their support in this tool, and all the other PS3News Devs for helping us in all our work.
