Warhawk Trophies Hit August 27; Update to Feature Offline Mode

100°
332w ago - When I read this on Kotaku one bit jumped out at me that I think needs some exploration. You see, the piece gives some details about the 1.5 patch for Warhawk. They mention something's that are obvious, like trophies and custom soundtracks and some fun things like, new paint and insignia schemes.

Here's what I like, the brief mention of offline tutorials. I want to know how robust this new offline mode is. Are talking a few quick challenges? How about the ability to play against bots? Remember Bots?

There was once a time when all multiplayer games let you play alone with bots. It was great for learning maps and how to use weapons. This way when you went online you didn't play like an idiot when you hit a new map for the first time.

These days games are too cool, or developers are too lazy to add bots to their games, so they are a thing of the past. I don't know what the new mode in Warhawk is, but at least I won't have to wait too long to find out. Update 1.5 is set to come out August 27 per SCEE, although the page detailing this on Sony Europe's official Web site has been mysteriously deleted.

The patch is said to bring forth trophy support with over...

500°
333w ago - mopx0 has installed Windows Vista 32 bit on the PS3, the whole process takes a huge amount of time and the end result is that the emulation runs very slow as evidenced by the fact it takes nearly 25 minutes to boot to the start menu.

To quote: It's a 100% PS3 based emulation of Microsoft Windows Vista. Its super slow, but it works.

Tutorial: Install Qemu 0.9.1

- Install Vista on your Computer using Qemu and Bochs Bios Rev 1.171 by sshwarts
- Vlite helps speed the install up, Vista's install may take a day or so

- Bochs Bios Revision 1.171 can be found here (http://bochs.cvs.sourceforge.net/bochs/bochs/bios/BIOS-bochs-latest?view=log&pathrev=MAIN)
- You may also need to add this command "-cpu pentium3" for qemu to work right
- Copy the .IMG to your PS3's HDD
- Open Terminal where the Vista IMG is located
- Type qemu -hda vista.img -m 256 -L "Location to Rev 1.171, Drag n Drop" -cpu pentium3
- The -cpu pentium3 option makes it so it doesn't BSOD with error code 7F

It will take about 25 min to fully boot (network connection and audio show up).

333w ago - Despite being released for the PlayStation 3 edition of Burnout Paradise earlier this month, the content-packed Cagney update, due to pesky bugs that cropped up during Microsoft's routine quality assurance testing, still has yet to arrive on Xbox 360.

Good news is, according to developer Criterion Games, these bugs have since been eradicated and the 360 version of Cagney is en route for an August 4 release.

As a brief recap, the update brings three new online game modes to the table, along with two extra rides and 70 timed Freeburn challenges.

Will it arrive on schedule? We'll know soon enough...

333w ago - Sony has confirmed that Media Molecule's ambitious world creation platformer LittleBigPlanet will hit Japanese store shelves on October 30, exclusively on PlayStation 3.

A firm launch date for other territories has yet to be officially announced, aside from a vague fall release window.

However, considering that the developer is European based, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a release in both Europe and the U.S. around the same date.

To quote, roughly translated from French: "Announced for October in Europe and the USA, but without specific day, LittleBigPlanet has reached its official date for Japan: October 30, 2008, priced at 5,980 yen (36 &euro."
